Hi people,

this is one I wrote yesterday in one rush after watching the latest news...

Letter

what I tell you now in these few lines
is not some super smart appeal
it's just a wake-up call to feel
the monsters crawling up your spines

every country has it's sins and deeds
some are old and half-a-century away
but some are written every minute every day
and always someone else will have to pay

in time we learned our lesson
not everyone but most
no one can remember, but fewer can forget
our country's heritage of ghosts

when our children will be hanged up high
above the flags, beneath the sky
how long will we stand and stare
until no one will be left to care

from the mother of democracy
to something more sublime
where films are made about the judgement day
and f y i, we're extras and dont get paid a dime

but turn your heads and look at me
I demonize and organize
the horrors I pretend to see
while I'm sleeping with the ones that I despise

the future of today will be history tomorrow
and this play is packed with fear and hate and sorrow
and it won't be any good in any way
so we should change it round today

This is only a prototype and I would welcome any input to "upgrade" the thing (if there is help at all :? )
also, I would be interested in what an impression the text left with you... I'm a little afraid it will come out in a way that I dont want it to come out, but I'll wait for some opinions first before I'll talk more ;)

So take care,

Arno

Hi Arno ~

I applaud your effort to respond to the visceral impact of watching the daily news. What a contrast "Angel" was with your poem. Your first verse is a very effective attention-grabber in your appeal for change, repeated in your last verse. The people, indeed, become lost in the politics. Most every country has its skeletons. Human nature seems to prevail. When reading your poem, I felt what I sensed to be your frustration and urgent feel for change, to stop the madness that continues and keeps layering upon itself.
