honest mistakes
i might make one now
depending on how
these words are written for rhyming
they usually occur
when it makes sense to defer
events that are bad in their timing
in a morning rush
or a bus station crush
items get misplaced or broken
then add the distress
of lost happiness
by words not meant to be spoken
some statements are wrong
some stories are long
and some only last for a second
some arrive in the post
while burning the toast
and others are a force to be reckoned
with a plot to change lives
deceiving husbands or wives
in a single act of transgression
and when taken to task
some wear the mask
that is worn in a bout of depression
made everyday
every which way
each one is a unique occurrence
some are secret in style
some are public awhile
and some can
court interference
but whatever the cost
be it damage or loss
serious or of minor effect
it is best to admit
your involvement in it
before you are named suspect
so when truth comes out
there can be no doubt
your admission is plain to see
“i made a mistake
just give me a break
i’m only guilty of honesty”
