The tree of life was blooming still
in deep eternal love
the very garden kept by faith
developed by the dove

I saw you weeping as you held
my roses to your heart
we walked as one out through the gate
together and apart

until the day I die
still making love withouth the need
of ever asking why

I cannot say I've done my best
and even if I had
I could not beat the shades of life
who strove to make you sad

But baby, could I have this dance
the moon's so very bright
this wreck of flesh is given wings
for one more sensous flight

In the 4th stanza, where you wrote "strieved", did you mean 'strove'?
