so enquire how plans are progressing for our pre-concert meetup

as requested by MaryB from Ohio on a recent Post .
I hope to travel up there next week and have a good look around the Venue layout .

Hi Mike, I will be in Sligo from Monday next for 3 days and then heading to Achill. I can't wait! I would absolutely LOVE to visit Lissadell House and would be eternally grateful if you can arrange this for me! Once I post this I'll PM you my details I'll definately pop into Shenanigans and The Garavouge while I'm there. I'm also planning a to see Yeats Grave. I'll take loads of photos and put links here!

The Westlife and Leonard Cohen concerts at Lissadell are fast approaching - 30th & 31st July and 1st August.
At Discover Sligo, we are working hard to help make the concert weekend a very enjoyable time for all concert-goers. We would like to make you aware of the following services:
Priority Coach Service
As part of the traffic management plan, we are providing the Priority Coach Service to Lissadell from Sligo hotels, town centre and from Bundoran. The Priority Coach Service is a major part of a coordinated effort to minimize traffic congestion and is the only service that will deliver concert-goers direct to Lissadell. In order that enough coaches can be made available, concert-goers need to book their Priority Coach seat in advance and all accommodation providers are being encouraged to facilitate this with their guests. Priority Coach seats can be booked today at www.discoversligo.com

rpan may have got it wrong, as Bus Eireann is another provider of Bus and Shuttle-Bus transport during the weekend of the Concerts,
they have told me they will send details of their bus service as soon as they a transport plan completed .
We should have details from them this week.
Once again I am obliged to mention that the taxi service is another option that will be available.
In the meantime Keith McNair has offered the following clarification regarding rpan's earlier Post .
The concert organizers have advised us that the transport plan has
[1] cars using one route to designated car-parking and
[2] coaches and taxis bringing their passengers to the Passenger Drop Off point at nearby Carney from where they can be transferred by a fleet of smaller minibuses along the narrower roads.
All this is in order that traffic congestion is minimized on the local narrow, secondary roads.
Based on experience at other venues, such as Slane, a dedicated Priority Coach Service is also being provided to Lissadell itself. This will assist with the demand on the coach drop off point at Carney. In order to ensure swift coach access, especially on the “out” after the concert, a separate route has been set aside to facilitate this priority coach service. This is a pre-booked service which serves local hotels and Sligo town centre and is separate from the services provided by other coach operators.
The priority coach service delivers concert-goers right to Lissadell and compliments that provided by all the other modes of transport. A fleet of quality coaches is at hand for the Priority Coach Service, including additional coaches for the “out”, and all this will work together to ensure the traffic flow works to its optimum.

Hi Mike, my names Daryl Ewing and I run the boat charters which will be dropping people to the beach at Lisadell (right in front of the house itself). I will have my larger vesssel dropping crew onto my smaller vessel, which should be able to drop people right onto the beach itself from the channel access in front of the house. I am doing this as I know it will be hassle for 10,000 people to get down the road by Drumcliff (as you know yourself)!
Can you confirm will there be a path available for ticketholders to access the gig from this side, and is there security I need to liase with? I know there are some rights of way which are being debated currently in a court battle around the property, but am unsure where to direct people other than straight to the gig front, or the path to the side of the house. Can you confirm which area of the property this is being held?
I will not be doing return trips, only one-way, as licensing on passenger boats is quite strict when it comes to people boarding boats at nightime.

the idea for transport by boat to Concert Venue was first mentioned on this thread sometime ago by sceachgeal (seconded by Purple Princess )
I think we discovered at the time that it was a non-runner.
There were some security, safety and legal reservations.
I will check with POD today and contact you as soon as I hear from them.

if the boat idea was approved, one would have to walk ( barefoot ) at the landing stage through about 6 inches of water ,
I doubt if it will be an approved method of transport for Concert-goers but waiting for
response from POD,
would be my favourite way to get there but I have the Priority shuttle-bus service booked already

I spoke to boat-owner, Daryl Ewing, today ,
he tells me the intended departure point for boats is from the Pier at Rosses Point, about a 10 minute drive from Sligo town, the cost would be 10 euro.
Passengers would later have to transfer to a smaller boat to gain access to the beach near the Concert grounds.
POD should contact us soon regarding suitability of this means of accessibility to the site .
Bus Eireann should also be in touch this week with shuttle-bus schedule.
