Bar Room Bully

Post by witty_owl »

Here are a few verses from a couple of years ago. Byron mentioned the example of a schoolyard bully extended out into the wider world. Sometimes you even find this type of character at websites.

Bar Room Bully

Poorly home grown in the school of hard knocks
Seeds have been sown in a garden of rocks
Caught up in a hard place, cannot break free
Always has to save face, condemned to disagree.

Schoolyard bully, trying to hold your ground
Schoolyard bully, throwing your weight around
Schoolyard bully, bellowing an ugly sound
Schoolyard bully, taken yourself down.

Strutting through the playground, going for the Oscar
Nasty little drama queen, really a gutless wonder
Sycophantic bodyguards, following the leader
Feeding on ego scraps, sucked into the fever.

Street-wise bully, trying to hold your ground
Street-wise bully, throwing weight around
Street-wise bully, Hell is where you're bound
Street-wise bully bringin' everybody down.

Bluffing is the strategy, tyranny the game,
Courage is the enemy to a spirit that is lame.

Frothing at the mouth, getting in someone's face
Rant and rave about, always on somebody's case
When the fists start flying you know you've lost the plot
Someone ends up crying, curse the little despot!

Bar room bully, trying to keep your ground
Bar room bully, throwing weight around
Bar room bully, Hell is where you're bound
Bar room bully, bringin' everybody down.

(c) J.W. 2001

The music for this lyric is a rhythm and blues sound in the key of E.

Ves, metaphorically or any other way,no. Clearly you have not understood the essence of my writings and thus myself; or you would not have asked such a silly question. It is not in my nature to punch anyone, metaphorically or physically. However if that is what you seek; then keep up with the nasty, relentless attacking and I am sure you can find someone in the real world or the virtual world who would be glad to oblige you. :D

Lizzy and Arno, I am happy to see that you find some merit in these lyrics. They were written at a school during a free lesson after having observed such behaviour in the schoolyard with children and in a domestic situation with adults. Both incidents occured within the same week. School bullying has become quite a problem in our state to the degree that last week the issue made front page of the predominant newspaper here.

Regards, Witty Owl.
