Luck?

Post by George.Wright »

and lightening does not strike twice
why do the gamblers continue to roll their silly dice?
and end up being skint and paying the price?
and when does lady fortune intervene?
is it amongst the divine and the unseen?
and why do we dream?
and manipulate and always scheme?
is luck random and not to select?
when your numbers up you will hit the deck
what does it matter, what the heck?
and the prayer wheels keep turning in earnest hope
and the sick and the guilty, still line up to see the pope
and the junkies and the dealers, continue to reach the dope
and the blind and the blinder continue to watch the soaps
lucky number seven
your reward will be in that heaven
Georges

Ciao George!

"and the blind and the blinder continue to watch the soaps"

It is that way in my country too, my friend. You have put it in the nutshell once again!

Hey George- Nice work, again :)
This past weekend I took a trip to Atlantic City, the local gamblin' hole. Quite surreal this place. The slot pits are a slow motion smoke stack... Anyway, above the heads of long gone gamblers is a flashing sign that reads "REDEMPTION" It was then that I knew I should leave...

Nice piece George.

This is a very strong poem!

You capture quite a lot of the complexity of human suffering, human longing, human delusions etc.

Excellent!

Thank you all for your nice comments. I did not think this was a strong poem but the 4 lines that Taigaku quoted were the best. Luck is such a surreal untangible piece of chance!!! It is nice when you get encouragement on the forum, love and peace to you all.

Yes George, I agree with Taigaku. The poem starts out ~ so, so and the last lines from "and the prayer wheels..." rivet the whole poem into context. Very good stuff :!:

Thanks, Makera. Insanitor, luck does not always have to be a lady.
