Dear Friends
I am writing with my political career in ruins . The night started with so much expectation as I thought my policy of fibs had worked on the electorate but during the count my agent told me my "swing" did not look big enough and unfortunately the local Toysarus was shut so I ended up losing by one vote.
So what of the future ! . There will be no fibs in the house of commons for the next five years ( yeah ok ! ) as for me I am going to form a new alliance called Socialists/Conservatives And Me (or SCAM for short ) I think that would have a great deal of support in parliament don't you .
Anyway at least we can get back to something interesting on this thread . Over to you Tinderella !

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I really hate it when I have written something (even if it's not worth reading) and then it vanished from the pc and I have to start again.... and especially when I am only home from work now after a day where I never stopped all day, could not even get a lunch and had five mins to eat a sandwich and then back again to deal with customers looking for new glasses, looking for discounts, looking to look amazing and me trying to find glasses for some guys that have heads the size of footballs, and all with a smile on my face ..................... believe me, tiring and trying at times.

Anyway, we will leave the politics in case one of the Moderators starts moving our comments to the Politics thread.

It was a short battle valiantly fought Phil.... and y'know what? It is their loss.

By the way Phil, you said... what about The Future?

I bet you come up with some ideas



I am going to open a bottle of wine tonight even if I have to get up in the morning and go to work and do it all over again.

It is just as well that your political career was side-tracked. You are too much of a poet to waste your time in those other trivial pursuits. We're looking forward to seeing all of you in Krakow.

Hey Joe, that was a really nice thing to say, thank you very much and I could say the very same about you and Ann.

I don't really mind missing Sligo as Kracow is just the week after and maybe I will get to one of the concerts after that.

I am afraid Ireland is a very expensive country these days and even a simple trip to the west would probably cost the same as a trip to a European city, so I will wait and see what happens.

Trish is great and we will have many great evenings in Kracow for sure

Joe actually a politician and a poet have a lot in common . They both use words in a way that only they can understand most of the time . But you could be right I think I will stick to writing poetry its much more rewarding and you don't have to re- aply for your job every five years

You are truly an amazing writer and your poems need to go on the Poetry thread too for the members that did not go to Wales.

I loved this one and the storyline you add to the poems are wonderful.

This thread is in danger of becoming extinct unless someone takes the time to resurrect it ! How quickly you all forget the long hours of toil spent on that mountain . The sacrifices we all had to endure in the interest of alcoholic evaluation , laughter making and social endeavour . It's a long road to Kracow but with strength of purpose and a willingness to talk to each other we will get there I am sure . Do not ask what the forum can do for you but what you can do for the forum !!

At last there is some heat in the sun. I was beginning to think that the summer would pass us by again.

So how many of the Wales gang are going to Kracow? Hopefully all of us.

Hope the eye is getting better Joe, and hope the leg is better Jean.

Thankfully there is no mountain climbing in Kracow. We can just reminice about Wales over great cheap beer

Great name Paula ! "Barmouthians " it makes us sound all conquering !Like some marauding tribe ! The Barmouthians entered Snowdonia in the year of our lord 2009 to conquer a mountain and then they made merry and all the locals were in awe of this tribe of fearsome warriors so much so that they offered up a "Presley " ( this being the idol that they worship ) and all the Barmouthians joined in the celebrations . But then it came to pass that the Barmouthians have a hero of their own called " Leonard " and when the locals learned of this " Leonard " they were truely mesmerised with the wisdom of this prophet and from that day forth all of Wales was converted to the teachings of the man they call "Leonard Cohen "

Yes Judy.... I found my hotel, but it is a closely guarded secret. After reading my poem in Wales, I have to keep a safe distance from all those eligible men that will be in Kracow.

Jean is grateful that you have asked about her and I am pleased to report that she is improving by the day but it is a slow process and I am a little annoyed that it looks as if she will not be fit in time to put in the ten rows of early potatoes I have bought for her but she should be okay for the maincrop and as for the ton of coal sitting on our driveway it's a good job it's summertime and there is no need for a fire or the house would be freezing until such time that her toe has sufficiently healed for her to pick up the shovel
