Oh, For Heaven’s Sake!

Post by carm »

I can no longer conceal (constrain, curb, deny, detain, disallow, hide, hold, hold back, hold down, hold out, hold out on, inhibit, keep, keep secret, keep to oneself, keep under one's hat, keep under wraps, refrain, refuse, repress, reserve, resist, restrain, retain, sit on, spike, suppress) this pent up rage, as it spews and sparks, fired up as it is in its request for an immediate release.

Oh sure, it may not be my place here, to offer a certain individual(s) these words of severe scolding or, better yet, these words of peremptory caution as I effort to state a long held belief that the certain individual(s)’s unruly behaviour must at this moment, cease! I realize that this posting is a really, incredibly serious injunction towards a certain individual(s), but I strongly felt, in my best honour, I had to, as of right now, disperse it!

This miniscule piece is designed to provide a tidbit of clear insight, based on a wide spectrum of beliefs and incredibly strong feelings, as to how one (or maybe two?) certain individual(s) should be addressed by way of particular wrongdoings and carrying ons. For I feel, NO, I am convinced that a certain individual(s)’s various interpretations have caused confusion throughout each of that certain individual(s) past comments, to the point that each statement of opinion of that certain individual(s), now actually hinders rather than helps our worldy wordy points of view.

And so, we must therefore access some of those long forgotten time-honoured principles, those well-grounded terms and theories that were once upon a time debated, then re-debated oh, but what seems so long ago. Clearly, we must endeavour to retain each aspect of that past knowledges effects-based thinking, that we as a people deem useful while keeping steadfast to the mission at hand. For surely over time we can, most importantly, link a desired means to this achievable, forseeable end.

Once an understanding to the wide range of variables that constitute today’s mixed-up adversities within the biggest realms and widest scopes of our complex, crazy environment is achieved, a goal will surely be attained. We must, I repeat, MUST, however, keep in mind that the aforementioned certain individual(s) is intelligently smart and creatively quite adaptive.

And so, at this time, it behooves me (but it does not behoove the reader to speculate or embroider on the precise significance of the words herein employed) to issue the certain individual(s) the RIOT ACT: An act for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies, and for the more speedy and effectual disciplining of the rioter(s) (And surely, you know who you(s) are!).

I. Whereas of late many rebellious riots and tumults have been in divers parts of this kingdom, to the disturbance of the public peace, and the endangering of his Majesty's person and government, and the same are yet continued and instigated by persons disaffected to his Majesty, presuming so to do, for that the punishments provided by the laws now in being are not adequate to such really bad offences; and by such rioters his Majesty and his administration have been most maliciously and falsly traduced, with an intent to raise divisions, and to alienate the affections of the people from his Majesty therefore for the preventing and suppressing of such riots and tumults, and for the more speedy and effectual punishing the offenders therein; be it enacted by the King's most excellent majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the lords spiritual and temporal and of the commons, in this present parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, That if any persons to the number of eleventeen or more, being unlawfully, riotously, and tumultuously assembled together, to the disturbance of the public peace, at any time after the last day of April in the year of one thousand seven hundred and fifteen billion, and being required or commanded by any one or more justice or justices of the peace, or by the sheriff of the county, or his under-sheriff, or by the mayor, bailiff or bailiffs, or other head-officer, or justice of the peace of any city or town corporate, where such assembly shall be, by proclamation to be made in the king's name, in the form herin after directed, to disperse themselves, and peaceably to depart to their habitations, or to their lawful business, shall, to the number of eleventeen or more (notwithstanding such proclamation made) unlawfully, riotously, and tumultuously remain or continue together by the space of a half hour after such command or request made by proclamation, that then such continuing togetherness to the number of eleventeen or more, after such command or request made by proclamation, shall be adjudged wrongdoing without benefit of clergy, and the offenders therein shall be adjudged felons or jailbirds or do-do birds, etc., and shall be forced to eat but bread and water (no bananas OR doughnuts, I repeat no bananas or doughnuts, or cartwheels) as in a case of wrongdoing without benefit of clergy or dear Leonard…to be continued.

ohhhh dear lord... Carm what happened you were so sensible? I think your sugar must be low or something.

Have you by any chance been reading all of those bronzed things and long, long complaint letters word for word ... did you stop to eat?
Here sit down and I'll get you something to eat - a doughnut might help or I think I saw some fruit around...

The riot act - literally, that's hilarious :D

Dear Carm,

I think I speak for Marisha when I tell you: flattery will get you nowhere (since I believe she is the person you'd most like to -- well, flatter.. whereas I myself feel to be but a mere medium of her madness, as it were... at times, at any rate.. when I'm in that banana-split personality sort of mood, that is).. now what was I -- oh, yes.. no, instead of flattery, you might try, well, just plain punching her in the nose, I think.. it's more direct, it's how the boys do it.. and let's face it, her fixation on bananas leads one to suspect that she wouldn't mind being treated to a real macho sort of bar room brawl type of thing.. (or do I mean ball room brawl?.. hmm.. suddenly the image of two women in sequined gowns duking it out seems more enjoyable somehow)..

.. anyway, I'm tuckered, trying to assist M. today using more, um, literary means.. but since you seem so riled up, I suggest you try another approach.. oh, and thanks for reading us the riot act, by the way (with a few addendums, I suspect).. I had no idea you were a thespian, but then, one isn't always up on these types of things, it seems.. :)

.. well, good luck with Ms. M.. (she's one tough-skinned banana, I can assure you)..

.. oh, hi Cate.. somehow I missed your post completely.. but I came back to check on things and.. viola -- Cate's post.. hmm..

... anyway, I hope you concur with my advice (as per above).. I think I'm getting a feel for Marisha these days.. and so maybe I'm qualified to prescribe.. well.. I'm not sure I would call this "right action," exactly, but sometimes even Buddhists bend the rules.. (methinks).. (just saying).. (especially when it involves bar room bras, 'n things).. (I think I just referenced "Closing Time")..

... you're laughing now, Marish.. but I hear that Carm throws a deadly left hook.. you might consider that the next time you insult the long held propriety of long bananas..

.. as to the rest of y'all.. hmm.. I sensing a sort of "rift" here, and it's silly.. as those of you who have been here a while know, his Lordship provides the necessary aggravant, if you will, to help render, well, if not pearls, then at least some real plums (to keep the fruit analogy going).. so I suggest some chilling out is in order.. in which case, Cate has plenty of zip lock bags 'n things.. and employs impeccable practices of refrigeration.. and I.. well, I do confess to being something of sleuth.. but only when it comes to words, and they've never complained.. I suppose I could store their sleuthed-up remains somewhere in the back of Cate's freezer.. (or maybe behind her dryer, where I also hear she stores stuff).. but what would be the fun in that? (well, behind the dryer sounds sort of fun, actually)..

.. yes -- fun.. f u n.. as in stupid yuks.. (okay, very stupid yuks.. at times)..

.. anyway, I hope none of you misconstrue this a my defending Marisha's bananas.. I find them disgusting myself, and would just as soon put them in the deep freeze.. (which, by the way, makes for a lovely summer snack)..

.. (I.F., where in hell are you??)

v i o l e t (flower).. (a bit torn, perhaps.. but on a tear)..

.. p.s.. Carm, I do hope you know that I joketh with you-eth.. and again, thanks for citing the Riot Act... I've been meaning to catch up on my Shakespeare.. :D

Cate writes:

Well Cate, it is not my sugar or caffeine level that is low, so I’m thinking it must be my Vitamin D, its deficiency can contribute to negative emotions and a variety of mood disorders and crazy, erratic behaviour. So, I’ve locked into the latest news on Vitamin D…‘they’ say it helps the brain produce serotonin, a neurotransmitter critical to emotional health and through its increased consumption, ones mood is elevated to new unfathomable peaks and heights and an extraordianry positive outlook on life, as a whole is thus promoted and thus produced.

Flower essence treatment would be my last resort. This is nature’s way of elevating the mood and increasing self immunity as well as self sensibility. Flower essences are decoctions of the flower part of the plant, prepared from sun infusions in a bowl of water, to be then further diluted, potentized and preserved in an airtight, wholesome container. The main initiative behind its use is to eliminate negative imbalances in those less frequent, but still fairly common banana-split personality sort of moods as it works tirelessly toward rejuvinating ones soul, body and in the end complete frame of mind. This elimination of negative energy gives rise to a happier, more productive sponge-Bob sort of life. Again, it is a last resort.

v i o l e t writes:
I think I speak for Marisha when I tell you: flattery will get you nowhere…instead of flattery, you might try, well, just plain punching her in the nose…
Well, I never!

When is the resort to violence justified?

What an elaborate historical argument that question poses…but to me, at least, I can only say that it seems like an immoral judgment and invariably the moral argument I might even try to present here would seem weak at best, even though we are provoked beyond reason at the worst and best of times. Surely any rational person would agree, I think, that punching someone in the nose is not even a last resort kind of thing and is therefore not legitimate unless the consequences of such action are to eliminate a still greater godawfullness. So, v i o l e t, I cannot and will not concur with your ‘punch her in the nose’ brawl room kind of advice. Sorry though.

Yes, indeed, cheers, all the way to the end of the earth and back again, way into infinity and beyond!! And thanks, Alsiony, for your utmost kindest regard, no really!

'Oh the Cleverness of you and your banana!' I tried to pique your curiosity and yet with a great deal of effort you’ve but eluded my thoughts, unable as I guess you were, to pinpoint the value of their immortal importance. But, I must, and will do, thank you kindly for responding promptly and efficiently.

Oh, and by the way, carm writes:

Nope, absolutely not, not never or ever for that matter! I say NO to violence of any sort. And that is final! I mean it and every word I have ever said in that regard! And in my pledge of nonviolence, I throw out an appeal of sorts, to all those political and religious leaders around the globe to heed the said 'recently posted here on the Forum' appeal!

I'm just saying…

Well, that having been said, I think that you make a really excellent point, within your aforementioned point of view.

By the way in my previous post, in the hustle and bustle of getting caught up in the moment of it all, I clearly forgot to include…

leonard writes:
Poems! break out!
break my head!
What good's a skull?
Help! help!
I need you!

She is getting old,
Her body tells her everything
She has put aside cosmetics.
She is a prison of truth.

Make her get up!
dance the seven veils!
Poems! silence her body!
Make her friend of mirrors!

Do I have to put on my cape?
wander like the moon
over skies and skies of flesh
to depart again this morning?

Can't I pretend
she grows prettier?
be a convict?
Can't my power fool me?
Can't I live in poems?

Hurry up! lies!
Damn your weak music!
You've let arthritis in!
You're no poem
you're a visa.
Do you feel he wrote this, of the Forum herself, because of all of what it hasn't become or could become, or am I reading too much into something that just isn't there, at least not quite yet?

.. hi again..

... how is it you think this is about this Forum?.. (I'm curious)..

.. to me, upon my first reading of it, I mean.. it seems to be railing against mortality.. railing against truth (the province of poetry), when truth be not a pretty thing.. when truth is not something too terribly easy to love or accept..

.. why does poetry have to take me to such unwanted truths?.. this poem seems to be imploringly asking..

.. hmm.. I'm not sure what he means by "you're no poem, you're a visa".. when "visa" might mean an escape, which is what I thought the "I" of the poem was pining for, but which the poem hasn't delivered.. so.. I'd have to ponder more some of these lines.. but that's my first take, in any event..

And so, I seethe, trying as I might to rail against the injustice of it all, but to no avail.

I must admit I do delight in these moments of sheer giddiness and wish only for the everlasting intoxication of such a mood. But I feel the time is ripe to change the climate of thought that has hijacked this site as a prominent certain individual(s) avoids as one might and at all costs, the positive take on any one original poem’s truest most sincerest construction by systematically obstructing, by means of vandalism and or graffiti, the core of its very essence.

But now, having said that, I tend to believe that the message be, that such audacity forever wins, because in the sheer giddiness of such moments, that much at least is clear. Audacity will win time and time again, if the certain individual(s) is allowed to continue their wordy revolution in an effort to bolster their own economy while draining the power from the various regimes. As that certain individual(s) leapfrogs from thread to thread, poling that individual(s) position in the endlessness of things said, that is where ones thoughts will surely be stuck and that's a big fact, and it is certainly not fiction.

And so I try to reason it all in the most gracious of ways, aspiring as I might to share my own tidbits of dialogue, caught as I am, up in this unique, inspiring individual giddy journey. For I blatently refuse to hide amid the immensity of all the sleepy, backgroundish bulk without casting my voice, in want of reason's pure and naked truth. Even though, over time’s precipices, lazy movements and hanging drifts of words will as they might, outline and enhance what one might one day call beauty. Can’t you agree that surely in such stagnant light, so much of something more lay hidden, in wait for the accentuation of its own particular luminosity, striving to demonstrate the very essence of all things by means of a simple, well executed poem?

It is tempting to feel righteously lost, shrouded in this mist of life’s little things, small wonder then too that we prefer the appearance of stability and the grande views alloted us from those clear unobstructed peaks. Let it be said that some certain individual(s) might do anything to manufacture false narratives so as to replace the complexity, changeability and raw beauty of what’s real or at least presented as such. And so I rise from the ashes of this brief piece of contemplation with a mind prepared to bear with the disorder and to forgive the untidiness of a certain individual(s), willed as I am to extract from it all, a more humbling sense of this here self, though it now be subdued in spirit and sober in contempt.

I don't know very much, but what I do know I know better than anybody else, I think, and I don't want to argue about it all anymore. I listen to it all like one who has not yet made up one's mind, yet thinks the subject too important to be dismissed without a fair and candid hearing in the honey-suckle arbor of our own planting. These little celebrations of thought will be but epics that I shall for sure call upon time and time again, and use as marking posts, of which one day I hope will point me in some new direction, embarking as I might on some new train of thought, for that is really what the ‘I’ of my words is truly and most sincerely pining for…

Truth by Vagif Samadoghlu

If I light a lamp
In the darkness of this tiredness,
Where will it cast its light?
What will I see?
I'm so afraid of seeing something bad...
I don't know what to do, I don't know.
I'm afraid to light a lamp.
But I'm also afraid that some day
I might get used to the darkness
And be able to see in it.

A Poet's Question

Will my notebook die
Like a man whose heart is bursting?
Or will it tell everything that it knows?
Will crows circle its corpse?
Or will doves?
Who will remember
Any of these thousands of words?
Will this last page of my notebook
Be closed for tonight or forever?
If it will be opened,
Who will do it?
My nation,
An enemy,
Or the breeze? :D

... Carm.. this is getting a bit silly, don't you think?.. I mean, what are you "seething" about?.. What is the "injustice of it all?".. This M. person engages in rather offensive trolling activity. I engage in sometimes mischievous word play. That's about it. You can ignore the posts or threads you don't like.. and write threads and posts you do like.

.. maybe you need to start trying the flower essences.. (I recommend "v i o l e t flower")..
(that was an itsy bitsy joke.. nothing more)..

Well, v i o l e t, I don't suppose I have to tell you that everybody knows that things are bad, silly and just plain crazy and even out of control because everybody knows that things are bad, silly and just plain crazy and even out of control.

Everybody knows that things are bad, silly and just plain crazy just as everybody knows that everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a penny's work, banks are going belly up. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere out there who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it all at all, not anywhere. We know the polluted air is unfit to inhale and much of our food is just plain junk and therefore unfit to eat, and we sit or lay watching our HDTV's while some local newscaster person tells us that today we had an umpteen number of homicides and an umpteen number of violent crimes and what or who IS that big shiny yellow dominant 'M' that stands so mighty and proud as ever against the backdrop of what appears to be a bright and beautiful blue skied day and why do some kids not even recognize what appears to be a bright and beautiful blue skied day and that is all of some of the reasons why things are bad, silly and just plain crazy and even out of control and anyway, as if that's the way it's supposed to be.

Everybody knows that things are bad, silly and just plain crazy and even out of control. It's like everything everywhere is becoming unbalanced, so we don't go out anymore, like before, when we never ever did. We sit in the house, usually at our computers and slowly the world we are living in appears to be reducing itself in size and stature, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave me alone in my living rooms or at my computer or with my HDTV because, well it's quite simple, because everybody knows that things are bad, silly and just plain crazy and even out of control. Let me have my toaster, my TV, oh, and my blackberry, my ipad, my iphone, oh, and my cell phone and my steel-belted radials and my hummer and my fastest-most modern-most updated, hot of the press computer and I won't say anything, nope nothing at all, because I won't know what to say, so just leave me and my modern technology alone.'

And so, there are days that feel that I need to get mad, but I do not desire to protest and nor do I want to, or ever will I never cause a riot! I don't know what I want to do about it all in the end of this all. All I know is that I think that maybe first you've got to get mad and then after that, again, it helps to voice the blatant malfeasanceness of it all.

And then after all that, after all that has been said but not done, it really helps to listen to a Leonard Cohen song to reduce the severest levels of 'seething'.

…cause everybody knows that things are bad, silly and just plain crazy and even out of control, and OH, by the way, where's my box of chocolates and my long stem rose, does everybody know?

I'm just saying!
