I'm having conversations with the past, and it's clear
Otherwise I don't think I'd listen by

I've met the past in person
Many times through stories of
Historic antique lies and nightmares
That still ruin your perceptions, for me
Who only wants to give you all of my love
While I publicly hear about words like
Conformity and Temporary,
Words that get excused from the table by your
Tendency to disbelieve
Words that later come back in a different language
With different clothes on
Holding suitcases
Talking about things like Forever and Always
Ready to leave on a moment's notice
To give speeches on things like
If and When
Painting intimate portraits
Of all of life's undiscovered corners
Alluding to pages with Us
Written in every other paragraph
Alluding to pages with You and Me
Written in separate books of longing

I still don't care.
I always mean forever
And I'll forever mean always.
