Yes, me too. Although I have to admit to lapsing a bit from the mid 70s - nothing to do with LC - I guess life just changed direction. But when I heard he was touring again in 2008 (rather late in the day, as I didn't know about this forum then) I knew I just had to see him. All the main shows were sold out at this point, but I finally managed to get tickets for the Big Chill - and wow - that was it. It was like adding another dimension to your life - just fantastic. And generally speaking, I'm sure that fifty-something admiration and appreciation of someone like Leonard is very different from teenage fan worship - you incorporate it into the reality of your life and it inspires and enhances it. I've been to a further three concerts since then, and can't wait to see the full list of venues for 2010. Quite simply, thank you, Leonard. I think I've made up for my lapse now :!:

And thank you Jarrko - I really enjoy the forum and visit fairly frequently, although I don't contribute an enormous amount.

Very best wishes to everyone here for 2010

It was in 1998 (coincidentally it was Christmas), when I sat in the chair. In a cup of punch, and the radio just started playing the song Hallelujah, I knew that I have ever heard. I've always thought that he sang so, the voice enters my mind and body so deeply that I could not stop thinking, to who he was. I have mentioned before my friend and she said that it was Leonard Cohen. I nearly jumped out of the skin, I was lucky because she had a CD VARIOUS POSITIONS, ear, and mind-body penetrated something that can not be described. As soon as I went from work, I bought the cd The Future. CDs struck me as a Cupid arrow. Since then, I buy books and cd Leonard.

When I speak of the book, I do not describe what we all know what Leonard writes, I just say that you read 5 pages and then your idea of expressing what he thought Leonard. That I knew the essence of what he wanted, Leonard said, and as experienced in life.

ps: Leonard is a monk who enters into the mind and heart of all of us. 8) Remain there forever. I'm looking forward to Leonard when it comes to Slovakia.

Why now?

Hi Unspoken Words,
I just read your post and wanted to take a few minutes to explain how I came to LC in the last few years:

I was a Leonard Cohen fan way back when, but lost track of him over the years. Then, about two years ago, I'm Your Man - the 2005 documentary, popped up on my TV screen via the Sundance channel, purely by chance. (I was taking down my Christmas tree at the time.) I remember asking my husband what was coming on and hearing, "It's something about Leonard Cohen, you like him, don't you?" I did like him, but the burlesque music coming from our speakers wasn't at all reminiscent of the Leonard Cohen I remembered - the extent of which was his first album. What we expected would be a little background music to which we'd continue packing up Christmas ornaments, turned out to be, well, life changing!
We were held spellbound by the documentary, which we watched over and over and over again. We loved the music, much of which was brand new to us! We loved the indy artists that performed the music! And most of all, we absolutely loved the man himself. And, more than two years later, we still can't get enough of Leonard Cohen, or his music!
Yes, I am now a bona fide Cohenite who visits the Forum regularly, listens to a vast assortment of LC recordings constantly, and is reading Hallelujah and Book of Mercy, simultaneously. I've even written a poem to express my admiration for the man! Last November, my husband and I had the pleasure and privilege of experiencing Leonard from the center of the third row at the Durham Performing Arts Center in NC. He stood right smack in front of us all evening, and it was absolutely amazing!
So in response to your question, I have to wonder if this documentary, which does so much to showcase LC's talent and integrity isn't somewhat responsible for bringing droves of new (as well as refurbished fans like myself) to this extraordinary man at this point in his career? Had I not seen, I'm Your Man, purely by chance that fateful night, I may never have rediscovered Leonard Cohen! And now, it's hard to imagine life without him!
Just my thoughts. Thanks for listening!

I'm not able to write as eloquently as some of you have in this thread but I do agree with so much of what is being said here.
it has touched my heart very deeply.
I too feel something extraordinary has touched my soul and am so grateful to Leonard for touring again
and for the 'phenomena' of this forum. It has added to my life and opened me right up again..in fact it has taken me back to myself...
the self that has always been there but was sleeping and buried..
I am so glad to have connected with some of you and can hardly wait for the announcement of the 2010 tour so I can see Leonard live again..and meet up with some of you again...

Hey thanks Leonka
I just said what I was feeling at that moment...and mean it...
now today I was sure we would hear some sort of announcement of the next leg of the tour...
so I am disappointed....so...
the paradox and that opposite feeling of happy is what
makes these days so extraordinary!
Though I like happy more..

Mutti

This year is special for me because I see Leonard in their own eyes. When Jarkko announced a fresh start the world tour I can not concentrate properly on anything else. :D
I know that communication is expected to further the journey Leonard. We all have wishes. That is why I wrote so that I feel it very personally.
I wanted to say that very much look forward to Leonard. Therefore this year for me as exceptional. Oh yeah.
Sometimes I do not know whether I write well.

Hi LEONKA,

I know you are having a conversation with mutti but I just have to say I and a lot of other forum members love your posts. You are so passionate about Leonard - you unashamedly wear your heart on your sleeve and I love that ;-)
Don't worry about how you write - just keep on doing it as you are. I am so pleased for you that you will finally be seeing Leonard in concert.

Hi B4real, Mutti, lizzythysh

Thank you, these last three years are truly exceptional, not only for Leonard but also for our fans. After Leonard returned from the Mount Baldy (sorry if I wrote it wrong) showed us again is the best music songwriter, poet, songwriter. :D

His songs have a charm, the site acting as a spiritual release from the mental stress-relaxation. I was very surprised at what response had concerts in the States where he performed, Leonard. This was something beautiful, seen as a mass of people shine with happiness after concerts and are calling to Leonard
returned to the podium and continued. With love, Leonard has demonstrated to us and we to him, decided to again go on tour 2010. 8) ;-)
