For some reason, every time I hear a new (to me) cover version of this song (well, a fairly good one, anyway, and this fits that bill) it makes me cry (and that is not normally my wont)(I was an embarrassed blubbering fool the first time I saw Shrek and heard it!). I think it is because it makes me realize what an amazing song it is, and, as an admittedly fanatical Leonard Cohen fan, I am so damn proud of him for writing it! All I can think of is, "Leonard wrote this!!!" And then, I immediately want to hear him sing it, since IMHO, he sings it better than anyone! So, with that, I'm off to listen to The Man sing his glorious song. Cheers!
