note to an annoying glowing globe

note to an annoying glowing globe

Go away moon; I have no time for you,
Take your damn Sea of Tranquility and scram.
That's right, go glow on someone else's glass,
peek through their blinds,
draw your prison stripes on them.
I close my shades to you.
I shut my eyes on you.

moon?

...are you still there?

(edits - Might turn into a running list - made 'their lovers' simply them, capitals on Sea of Tranquility, fiddling with punctuation.)

Hi Cate.. I like this a lot.. it's so like you somehow.. especially how it ends..

The impossible promises of moonlit romance are not all that fun usually, and probably should go away..

Hi Cate,

So nice to read a new one from you, espec. – as V. said - such a Cate one.

I love the moon, I always feel safer when she's up there, full and round on a clear night. I admire how she tugs at the tide quietly and powerfully without dazzle or bombast. So send her over to me; she's welcome in my bed :)

I know very little of romance other then it should be avoided.
ahhh.... but that moon how she leads me, and every time I think she's finally gone ...

:? but she's my moon... okay I know sometimes she wanders from bed to bed, but...
ohhhh come back moon - I'm sorry

Alas, the tiny sliver that is she tonight, refuses to come out from behind a cloud. I think she must be drifting over to your window now.

Treat her well I.F. <sniffle>

I love your poem Cate.
I love the moon too, although she drives me a little mad when she is full. There's nothing quite like a low-slung yellow moon to capture one's attention...

Hi thanks Juan,

Yeah you gotta like those low full moons, so big and round.

At the end of this last summer I took my kids to a little cabin by a lake for a last weekend away (before school). We had had a hectic day, it was about a four drive there and we had stopped in my home town to shop and visit and of course stayed to long. By the time we got to where we were going I realized that it was to late for a bbq so we stopped and picked up sub sandwiches. After we unloaded the car we took our sandwiches and some cokes out to the dock and just sat quietly while the sun set on one side of the lake and the moon raised over some trees on the other side. We stayed out there for hours - just my boy and me, it was a good night.

That's a beautiful image, Cate. Isn't that time with our children so precious? When they can sit with you and just be for a while, and you with them? It doesn't happen often enough in these busy times.

My 9 year old son had nothing-to-do-disease yesterday (I refused to keep visiting the dvd hire store) and when I suggested he write me a poem about how he was feeling, he wrote one about me which I thought was beautiful, so here it is (as it was written)...

"Your as pretty as a lilax
as smart as a robot
and as free as a gillax.
You've got as much love as a mother lion in hunting season,
sneaky as a mouse looking for cheese at midnight"

When I was pregnant with him we called him (he's my youngest) Newspaper, as we had a feeling he might be a writer. A romantic too I'd say ;-)
Now I'm not sure you'll find lilax or gillax in the dictonary but I believe these creatures are very beautiful and free....

maybe we will find our way Home...

Cate,
Love your poem, Cate.
I like the last two lines and the possible double interpretation that though you have sent the Moon away; and maybe you hope he/she is still there, lingering.
You take me back to an old metaphysical poet, John Donne.
(Those metaphysical boys were almost mystics !!
Maybe you are too.. :D )

" BUSY old fool, unruly Sun,
Why dost thou thus,
Through windows, and through curtains, call on us ? "

Hi Mat, thank you for the compliment and thank you for yet another introduction!
I think should pay you a match making fee, from what I've read so far I think I'm really going to like John Donne. I really liked the Flea poem it reminded me of something that I had started here, thought about seeing if it could be a poem and then forgot about it (mine was about how nice it would be to be a mosquito :?)

Happy New Years!!! x

Boss - the full moon tomorrow, I guess today for you, is special as it's a blue moon (you don't seem like the type for childish fancy - but how often will we have a blue moon just as a new year is about to enter? you should make a wish on it)
