I don't usually venture into the poetry section but I found this poem I wrote for one of my children many many years ago.
Although you are a part of me in body and in mind
Your abstract mind confuses me we work on different lines
Your worries you keep hidden from any prying eyes
Surrealistic thoughts are frightening to mono thinking minds
If I could sub divide my thoughts and rearrange at will
And you could arrange yours neatly the perfect magic pill
But people are all different confused and standard thinking
Can often work together the rising and the sinking
As age advances slowly and the goals for which you strive
Appear on the horizon your thoughts will polarise
Question always what is told you accepting only truth
Believe what is apparent if you have seen the proof
An expert’s only expert on what he’s seen and told
Question what he tells you his argument may fold

Re: Poem
Paula,
This is lovely! The way you defined the differences in 'wavelengths' of adult/youth was very real. Every line in the poem had a reason for being there. In my imagination, it was written for a daughter with a very creative, curious mind...
You should venture here more often!

Re: Poem
I think that this is beautiful, in the most realistic and truest sense of the word. It reflects how I think and feel about my own children.

Thanks IF and Claire it was how I felt at the time. We now speak from similar wavelengths the next dip will be when I hit dementia and the poem reverses from child to mother.

Re: Poem
Well, this was sure worth a venture into the Poetry section, Paula. Who'd'uh thunk
. Seeing your name as the last poster in the section forced me to click in, though.
And WoW! Such a straightforward, honest, insightful, and charming look at your children. So you. Thanks for posting this, Paula
.
Love,
Lizzie

I agree with the others Paula, you should venture here more often!
I have several teenage girls and boys and your poem resounds with me.
I'm so glad I found this forum!

Re: Poem
I also like the honestly of the piece and how you value the differences that there are between Mother and Child.

Hi....
Here Jamesmartyn from USA.The poem is the creation of heart not head. There are different types of poems we can read in the literature. Different types of poems spreads different types of rasas. There are many types of poem we can see. Robert Frost if one of the greatest poet of nature . Here I want to write one poem of Michael Carlson's nature poem.
Nature is mighty
Nature is strong
Nature is usually always right
Nature is rarely ever wrong
Nature is beauty
Nature is moody
Nature is smart
Nature always has the greater part
Nature is blue
Nature is green
Nature is every color possibly seen
Nature is true
Nature is beaming
Nature is dreaming
Nature is in every place
Nature is always with grace
Nature is true
Nature is you
Nature is me
Nature will forever be free.
Have a nice day

Re: Poem
Superb poem, Paula.
How many years is 'many, many years ago' ?
How's about writing an updated version for the same offspring?
