The reason I guess I can program a bit is that I can run the code and see exactly what the end user will see before they see it.

That's not possible for me with writing. Argh. I should have said:

"Is human love, as we were taught it, possible without reason? In the beginning was reason, nothing was created without it. Can you sing to me of reason, which it could be said created human love as we were taught human love?"

As you can see the thought didn't contain quite the amount of profundity you apparently got from it. Sorry!

And certainly one would NOT want to introduce even that meagre level of profundity to the naked, starving, thirsting masses, many in prisons of their own making, with mere words alone that can be so easily misunderstood.

I left a Key here last year, did you go and lose it, Violet?

And yes, it works very well. It's been tested.

being the naive person i am, i did not realise that you could choose whether or not to love. was always under the impression that love chose you. thought it was a wild and untamable emotion that couldn't be controlled, not a prosaic and lukewarm passion governed by decision. just goes to show how misled i have been.

.. Hi Geoffrey.. nice to hear from you (!)..

.. well, as I tried to discuss later on in the thread, it may well be that love chooses us.. and "I'll not love again" is just another wish of mine, or one that we all have when love doesn't go our way.. is that not true, Mr. G.?..

.. it's a beautiful morning here.. like that Oklahoma musical number.. Oh what a beautiful mornin'.. it's cool and sunny.. and "the corn is as high as an elephant's eye".. though here it would be buildings.. that do look like they're climbing clear up to the sky..

.. Casey, I've been taking a bit of a break, which maybe we both needed.. I want to look at your other posts.. oh, I'm heading upstate but finally getting high speed internet up there.. today, in fact.. they have very affordable packages these days since everyone is broke..

.. best to you both, C & G.. (oh and E too),
v i o l e t.. I have some odd kind of black tea.. oh, maybe it's not that odd.. Ceylon.. with raw honey and organic milk.. (when you live in a polluted city, you may as well nourish yourself with only the very best country ingredients).. (or what used to be the very best country ingredients)..

Side note re signs – what does it mean if you are sharing your sandwich with fish and one of the fish swims up to you and shows you a silver key?

it's just a generic key round at the top with a hole in the centre and a straight stem. I hope it dropped in the water accidentally I'd hate to think somebody would have tossed it to the fish on purpose, as you can see he's a very friendly fish (at least if it's lunch time).

It might have been used as bait - a shiny thing that flickers in the water.

Hi V., Casey, Geoffrey, Cate, Manna,

I couldn't see the silver key in the fish's mouth (but then I never did find Casey's key either... maybe I was too busy looking...)

Just wanted to say hi, feeling a bit teary re. Greg's thread. Manna, your posts to Greg were wonderful. I really hope he's well enough to read all of the love and fun expressed to him by everyone who posted in that thread, it would bring a smile to the direst of situations.

XO

it's in the corner of his mouth - it doesn't show up very well. I added a blow up shot above - it's not really much to see, it was just a bit weird.

I think you might be right Manna, no fishing is allowed where we were but maybe somebody was teasing it.
----

I know how you feel Sheila I keep coming back here today - Your last post Manna made me laugh, I'm sure it'll make Greg laugh as well.

Nothing I type doesn't sound like a metaphorical message of some sort.

How cool is that fish with a key in its mouth happening though. :-)

And we are heading east to the Navajo Nation, on a sign safari. We'll be depending on hijacked wireless where we can get it. I'll keep you posted. :-)

All ready to go. Got an 8 gig card for the camera because the 2 gig card I had filled up with Tuesday's sunset, and of course I want to save that intact for Violet - just in case something comes to her. Hi Manna. Nice to know you're okay. ;-)

Goodbye cable modem, see ya later Sissel. Hi ho Silver, away! :-))

One more smiley for Violet's morning tea... :-)

Good luck, Casey & Elizabeth,

Have a fruitful and safe (I hope) trip.. (I'd hate to inflict the Navajo Nation with our poor Signs from God luck.. they've had enough bad luck as it is)..

.. it's Labor Day Weekend here in the States.. a big three-day weekend for those that work regular jobs, along with their kiddies, as all are heading back to work and to school on Tuesday..

... sign wise.. there was something.. hmm.. I'm not recalling it right now.. oh, just a little baby hare.. need to look that up.. he was frightened of us though.. frozen senseless.. so we let him be..

v i o l e t (flower)... on my second morning tea.. green tea.. it always feels cleansing to me to have the bitter-ish taste of green tea, especially first thing in the morning..
.. oh.. I'm not a terribly materialistic person.. but as an artist, I admire things of quality.. and an antique Navajo rug I would truly cherish forever and ever and ever..
.. (the antique ones set you back quite a bit though)..

edit.. I can't believe one of my famous ellipses was comprised of commas.. my god..

Ahem... The Navajo Nation came to our door last night, so the Navajo Nation is now beyond our means this trip. We'll be off to somewhere, God willing... Hi ho...etc...

You left the baby hare just because it was frightened, eh? Hmmmm...

God help all baby hares, then, 'cause I can't imagine any that wouldn't be frightened. They're programmed that way.

.. well, yes.. they would all be frightened, as well they should be.. but it didn't seem he was in need of aid or anything.. it's not like I was needed in order to save him.. so.. I thought it might mean something to have just spotted him, in any event.. could be auspicious, even.. who's to say.. need to look up the symbolic meaning of "hare".. I guess.. methinks they are welcome signs though.. especially as I never see them normally.. anyway, I'll get back to you on this.. oh.. I'm not sure what you mean by "The Navajo Nation was at your door".. did I overlook something?.. (again)..
