pub prayer

Post by iveta »

Pub prayer

From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me drink

This is for an amazingly creative gentleman, who was talking aloud in the bus num. 28 today 10 a.m., Bratislava, Central Europe.
He appreciated his boar quietly "sleeping in the fridge" and criticized the "siberian wolves" of the village, as they bark at him at night.
And he also added some awesome complaints about the hardship of his life, such as "...but I have to work all day long: morning brandy, afternoon brandy, evening brandy..." At 10.00 a.m., he must have been exhausted from the loads of work he'd obviously managed today ....

I'm generally against drinking and drunks, but I have to aprreciate some street shakespeares here and there, even if they happen to be under quite an influence.
Of course I´m pathetic, I´ve spent my life getting the most impressive stuff out of the most impressive books. Malcolm Bradbury

Iveta this story is sad, and the poem conveys that but in a fun way - it could also be a good toast and a Leonard Cohen meet- up.

A POOR MAN PUB PRAYER

If it be your will
that you wait no more
and my drinking bill
you accept and pay for

then from the till
your praises i will ring
when you pay my bill
the barman will bring

if it be your will
that I hear your voice
again my glass you'll fill
I can then rejoice

that you are a friend
A drinking friend until
it becomes my choice
to pay the bill

Then I,ll draw you near
Because I'm mean and tight
And make it very clear
That this is goodnight

:) funny and beautiful, song of the beautiful loser

as this is the prayer, I hope than the protagonist of the poem is adressing God...than it´s truly courageous blasphemy, johny walker wisdom running decadently high....

try to rip some money off the human being is not such a high and courageous ambition, and one could as well do it soberly (as some guys really do, here and there)
so i hope this is not the case

I failed at social drinking and failed even miserably at alcoholism so I thought maybe drugs would solve the problem...I Thank God I wasn't successful with any of them as well.

No! It is certainly not the case ! Just a lighthearted post and if we ever meet at a concert or convention it's my round . As for the Johnny Walker wisdom running decadently high I can only say Hallelujah to that !
