The Israeli Concert .

Post by HeartBroken »

Hi all .
As usual - The Jewish State has to create a situation :) .
We have waited for years for Leonard Cohen to visit Israel , We have been raised upon his words , we love him - unfortunately , We also have no tickets for the only concert in Israel.
I have no idea how it came to this - but in less than 12 hours - not a single ticket is left . all night long we were trying to call the tickets office or order online - nada ! everything was busy or unavailable .
I believe that i speak for many many many heart broken people - asking for one more concert in Israel , or moving the location to a different place that can occupy more people .
Talking to the producers - there is no way for another show , but i am trying my luck here , maybe here i find a crack that will let the light in , after all - a wise man once said that there is a crack in everything .

Anat,

Thanks for sharing your misery... honestly I think your best bet is to score a last-minute ticket to a European concert (there are a few for sale on this forum) or plan a trip to the US in the fall. From what we've seen in the past the tour values quality over flexibility and is unlikely to make a last-minute change. The result is evident in the superb sound and performance quality of each and every concert, but sometimes it does lead to heart-broken fans (e.g. "Wet Rocks").

Although I have obtained my tickets at the last moment I can say that I am absolutely 100% behind the idea of at least transferring the gig to another location in which you can add at least 10,000 people more. The place I have in mind is the Yehoshua park where Madonna will be performing.

For those of you who cannot read Hebrew,
Today a small newspaper in Israel wrote that there might be another gig
In Israel and the 2 optional dates are the 26 or the 29 of September.
I wish, i might buy tickets to the second gig 2.
LC please consider....
(49,000 tickets sold out in 19 hours, need I to say more?????)

I hate to be a killjoy but I have to inform you that a second show in Israel is HIGHLY unlikely.

PLEASE!! I WISH!!! i hope to god there will be another concert! I AM one of those disappointed fans who werent fast enough and couldnt get a ticket. the way those producers handled the concert was disgracefull from the beginning!
HOPE Mr. Leonard Cohen heard about "the israeli situation" and WILL add another concert. at this point really dont care where. just want to hear HIM! some of the best places are Ceasaria amphitheatre and binyaney haoma in Jerusalem, though, great acoustics and can hold up to 20,000 people.

and hope the person above me will stop writing these negative messages. at this point i need some GOOD news!

blackfield,

The person above, Jarkko, is our esteemed site administrator and the founder of this website and forum. We pay attention very closely to his pronouncements. He knows some people ;-) , hence he knows much more than we do. But, keep the hope alive. I, too, wish for all the Israeli fans a second concert.

Kindest regards,
Mary

I have always loved this. It touches me more than anything else to see the woman singing with hands and Leonard reacts "I can hear you".

blackfield,
Jarkko is not just the person "above" you, but as Mary has already pointed out, he is the key figure here - and as he does a tremendous job with this forum and is very well informed (he gets his knowledge directly from Leonard and his management), so we all look up to him, so to speak! ;-)
But of course, it is totally legitimate to keep waiting for the miracle to come; I, for one, wish you good luck!!

And Henning, thanks for pointing out that specific moment in the Youtube video; I had watched it before, but never even noticed it...

Henning, I also have not noticed until you pointed it out. Thank you. He always knows the right thing to say, whether on stage or on the street.

Mary -it's from the movie "Bird on the wire". I saw this film only once in 1978 in a Camden cinema. Three friends of mine were waiting in a bar next to it. I was a Cohen fan for 2 years maybe and had never seen him perform live. So you can imagine that I was sort of mesmerized when I left the theatre. I rejoined my friends - I stumbled with a pint all over the place and there was roaring laughter among my friends. In a way I was not able to leave the atmosphere of the movie which contains a lot of crying and magical moments. It was only 26 years later when Jarkko sent me a copy of this. I had forgotten about some details but I never forgot about this woman and Leonard, who heard her sing.

Henning - I've only seen snippets from this movie, but what glorious snippets! Undoubtedly that moment is among the most touching, and a shade of his sense of humor shines through. We'll raise a pint (or two or three...) in Barcelona to LC, this movie, and one of the best moments I've ever seen.

Another article about a possible second show-

http://www.mako.co.il/music-news/local/ ... 221006.htm

It says there that there are negotiations over a possible second show, and these negotiations are held in Istanbul with LC management...
Oh well, we can only wish :)

I actually heard "Ide like to hear you", urging the audience to sing along (a favourite israeli pastime :))
