Hi Peter,

No, no, make sure you watch Leonard and everyone on stage, BUT, if you happen to spot a little monkey in the wings, we would all appreciate a report! :D If Fred is permitted to watch part of the concert he usually is perched on some equipment on the left side of the stage. That's "our" left as you're facing the stage. Look forward to your report! ;-)

Perhaps if Fred's person wants to take some photos of him in Europe this thread could be moved over to the Summer Concert in Europe 2009 thread, or maybe a new one might be started....hope, hope, hope...we miss the little guy.

All the best,
Diana

Hi Diana,
I've seen Leonard so often in the past 35 years, but I've never seen Fred... However, one of them I'll see possibly for the first time, and the other one probably for the last. I am already a little bit sad about this, but perhaps the monkey with his violin can cheer me up. Can't report back about Berlin before Sunday and hope Fred will already be discovered tonight in Cologne.

Peter, whether or not you may see our little Fred, I wish you a happy concert! My thoughts are totally with everyone who was at the concert in Cologne tonight and will be at Berlin tomorrow. If I had the opportunity I would try to attend as many concerts as possible for the magic that is Leonard, and everyone else on the stage. However, for the next few months I will only be able to follow through your reviews and a few YouTube videos. So thankful for our Forum and the sharing that we have...especially as we all have a common love of Leonard! Looking forward to hopefully a few concerts in the US this fall.

I am with you in spirit....and keep an eye out for our Fred! ;-)

Diana

Unfortunately, no sign of Fred in Cologne (as far as I can tell), although we were a few minutes late and he might have retired backstage by then... Otherwise, a BEAUTIFUL concert! :D

Oh YES! You did have a wonderful concert....and an awesome day after! :D

I think Fred was indeed there at the concert! He seems sometimes to sit sort of left stage on some equipment. We may not be seeing photos of him at the moment, but I think we will see many in the future (if my guess is correct ;-) ). I am sure he is having an exciting time....his first visit to Europe!

Take care,
Diana

Do you think Fred is developing a taste for bier????? and he is in no condition to be photographed. Is there a banana beer?

Mary,

in fact, there is such a thing like banana beer!
Cf. http://practicalaction.org/docs/technic ... a_beer.pdf
Don't know if it is available in Cologne, but it is quite a multi-cultural city!
If Fred wants to get into beer, though, Cologne is definitely not the right place. Their local speicality, "Koelsch", is probably as weak as they say banana beer is - and to all those from outside Cologne does not even count as "beer"! Different in Berlin and Antwerp, though... ;-)

Fred! It is SO good to see you now in the European tour section! :D I'm sure you're having a wonderful time. Hope you weren't bothered too much with jet lag. We all hope to see a photo of you soon.

Love and hugs,
Diana

I didn't see any sign of Fred in Berlin or Antwerp though someone did throw a banana on stage at the end of the Antwerp show. Leonard picked it up looking totally bemused by it but I guess it must have been meant for Fred? Hopefully it reached him.

Hi Wendy,

You just gave me my chuckle for the day! I can visualize Leonard's face as he's picking up the banana! :D :D I think it must have been meant for Fred but if it wasn't too bruised I'm sure it ended up in someone else's tummy!

If Antwerp was as hot as it looked from the concert photos (whew!), Fred probably decided to stay in an air conditioned dressing room!

Diana,

I guess so - Maarten has confirmed it was very hot, and the band was getting rid of all the spare jackets etc., so you might be right!

It WAS that hot Diana, maybe even hotter ...

I doubt if the dressing rooms were air conditioned but if we knew that Fred managed to find one, we would all have been in there with him and there would have been no shortage of photos of him for once!!

BV, now that you mention it, getting mammals into the British Isles is a royal pain ("rabies free" and all that...) I think Fred will probably stay on the continent and wait for the tour.
