Ken, that may be the one. About a month ago I also saw a production advertised at the Pavillion theatre in Porthcawl which is not far from me. I was rushing out of the building at the time and didn’t read the info properly or pick up any info, thinking I’d see it in the local press, but never did. Paul Robeson once performed 'live' at the Pavillion via a transatlantic phone link, at the Miners' Eisteddfodd (Welsh arts festival).

In the company of Henning and Dave and all those Irish ladies that won’t take long. Most people here are probably distracted from Freddie Mercury’s outstanding vocals by the, well, poppiness, of Queen’s popular songs. But live he was a force of nature. The tribute band has much to live up to:

who could leave a man who has eyes like that?

Thanks Lizzy and Steven for your kind wishes. There are plenty of spectacularly beautiful places in the US where you could do your own LC hike, too.

Pete, I may have finished your book by the time I see you:-)

Barring any unforseen calamities, Anne & I are confirmed. We arrive in Manchester on September 7th and as an added bonus for us we will depart from Barcelona the day after Leonard's concert. Now I suppose I will have to walk farther than the six blocks to get from my auto to my office and back each day. By the way, there isn't a Priest/Monk located at the top of the mountain to whom we need to bring a can good, like there was in Hydra, is there?

See you in September.

We are honoured that you are coming so far, Joe and Anne!

A reminder that the end of June is the deadline for opting in or out of this weekend, so's we can then sort the travel arrangements. Any lurkers or other last minute people are more than welcome. Please see other thread titled BARMOUTH essential info, for, well, essential info.

Opening of the cafe on Snowdon
Tonight on BBC 2 Wales, 7p.m,the opening ceremony of Hafod Eryri(Snowdon's new cafe) will be broadcasted.
Unfortunately I don't think the weather forecast is very good!
Actually it was a documentary of the history of the cafe and the construction of the new one!
Here's a link to it http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... t_the_Top/

I missed the program about Hafod Eyryi, Kwills and the iPlayer is no longer available but it will be v. interesting to see it in September.

Now that you are all back from Hydra, put your shorts away, get your cagoule out, and sign up for North Wales!

Did you receive the e mail from my son who is desperate to climb a welsh mountain . I hope he is not too late to register . I can assure you that his Leonard Cohen credentials are of the highest order having attended the New York and Berlin conventions . He can even do a mean " So long Mariane " if someone buys him a beer !!
