Brother Francis and his love for Snow
Brother Francis and his love for Snow
There came a day when Francis gave consideration to the need that he might have for a wife and children. It was winter in Italy and he went out into a field and made a wife and some children out of snow. He made them laying on the ground and then lay beside them and opened himself to the joy of being happily married with children. The joy came and the wife and children melted away. He remained happily married the rest of his life.
Everything being said to you is true; Imagine of what it is true.

Another way the story is told was that francis rushed out into the snow half naked, made 7 figures
one a wife
two sons
two daughters
a man servant
a woman servant
then told himself to cover them for they are dying of cold and if he could not keep them from being cold he should be glad and praise God that the task was not his.

I think Leonard had the same idea. I will be very interested to see what you can do with it.Jimmy O'Connell wrote:Didn't know about this one...

Is that what you're talking about? (Or something close if I have misquoted?)
If it is, would you mind pointing me again to Leonard's poem please, or possibly posting it here. I would like to read that one again regardless, I think.

Re: Brother Francis and his love for Snow
I thought Jack was referring to the lines from (the spoken) 'A Thousand Kisses Deep':
'...I'm just another snowman,
standing in the rain and sleet;
who loved you with his frozen love,
his second-hand physique;
with all he is and all he was
a thousand kisses deep'
***sigh***

I don't know. I just remember coming across something that he wrote one time and thinking "oh he must be writing about Francis and his snow wife. If I can make a better connection I will let you know. How come you haven't been writing more here recently?Manna wrote: "She entered my waist with her snow"
