Truth exists only as an opposition to untruth. They are both abstract concepts we wouldn't need if the likes of you didn't keep telling porkies.

Thanks for the link, Makera. That's a very cool demonstration of the concurrent multiplicities of 'Truth,' as well as how tenaciously we hold to our own. Eliminate/'kill' the other guy, if need be.

Thanks Liz, kinda puts it in a nutshell doesn't it. 8)

Rachel ~
It would be enlightening to know to whom you are referring with: "the likes of you"; is that plural (all inclusive), or singular and specific? To be truthful, a snipe requires explanation to prove credibility.

And here I took it as strictly a joke, a humourous way of bringing truth/untruth[lies] together in one sentence.

Lizzy~
That one needed a 'glossary' too. The term "porkies": 'pork pies', is Cockney rhyming slang for 'lies'.

"Porkies" means "lies" to me, too. Even if it didn't, I believe I'd have deduced it from its context, and the laughingly, accusatory structure of her sentence.

Sorry, Liz. I really didn't mean to imply that you didn't know what it meant, only thought the 'translation' might be helpful for anyone else not so 'bi-lingual' .

Hard to tell when someone's joking, with no emoticons, though. I made the mistake of assuming there was no malice from someone once before, remember? Thought I'd ask for clarification this time, since her post followed mine. That's all, no biggy. :D

Love,

That's fine, Makera 8) . I actually made the error of presuming everyone knew what "porkies" meant. Oh well. And, I knew that's not where you were coming from with me, just now :D . I took it as you meant it, and only added on to it.

Makera do everyone a favour and presume people know what words mean until some one asks for clarification unless you presume we are all too stupid to either know or to ask in which case just carry on treating us like idiots.

I was thinking of treating myself to Encarta 2004 for Christmas, but upon reflection I believe that it would be a waste of my money. Can anyone suggest something similar and cheaper?
