Holocaust

Post by George.Wright »

a sweet young gypsy girl
shaped like a guitar, with shorn head
the gas from the shower does hiss
to greet your nose with the almond smell
of a scene reminiscent of Bosch's Hell
and the terrible tearing of the skin and the flesh
and the sanatising of Jewry and the closing of the mesh
that divided the living from the putrid smell
and the congelling of body fats into gel
and the squeeling babies and the injecting of rabies
and the numbered tattoo's will the truth tell
and the furnaces are constantly stoked
to allow the tell tale bodies to dissapear in smoke
and the european jewry was just a joke
that dissapeared under the golden hill of the slope
and the innocent white ash remained in the air, silently and fell
creating the germans own personal reluctance to kiss and tell
a forgotten race.....
and the white ash floated their personal stories in space

George

The people disapear but the pictures remain.

Material worlds seem to be superior to spiritual worlds.

The images of this great crime must never disappear or vanish, either in spirit or actions.

This one with its graphic images affects me, Georges. I have a particular, emotional vulnerability to that horrific time and series of crimes against humanity and particular people.

Liz, it needs to be restated or it will be lost in the smoothing of time and it MUST NOT.

I wholeheartedly agree, Georges, and I like your phrasing, "the smoothing of time" ~ very accurate.

Liz, if only we could go back in time and have stopped this fanatical genocide of a race that has been persecuted for centuries, TOO many people have forgotten this sanitising of the undesirables, not just jews, but the gypsies, homosexuals, the abnormals and the politically incorrect and the criminals. Included are the infamous medical experiments of twins and the timing of time taken to die in freezing water!!!!

They were conducted to see how long German pilots would live in the North sea.
Thousands of them............

I fairly recently bought a huge book, with large dimensions, plus very thick, and smaller print about the Holocaust. 'Literally' tons [excuse the oxymoron] of information. That, no doubt, is in there, but I've had time to only glance at some of the many pages and photographs. It's all documentary style. Unbelievable, that "experiment."

This is a quote from Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London. It seems to be facile and obtuse at first reading, but let the thoughts sink in for a moment or two and allow yourself some lateral thinking.

"Every year the financial system kills more people than the Second World War," he once said. "But at least Hitler was mad"

One immediate example comes to mind without any bidding. We only have to look at the backdoor financial support that European companies give to Mugabe to see how profits and deaths are indeed very nasty bedfellows.
"Bipolar is a roller-coaster ride without a seat belt. One day you're flying with the fireworks; for the next month you're being scraped off the trolley" I said that.

Livingstone's quote really irks me. Hitler may or may not have been "mad", but that doesn't explain the conduct of nearly an entire continent.

"Profits and deaths" have the same root cause: material lust for power and control. The European Holocaust shocks and haunts us the most because it represents our own ethnic/cultural roots.
Why does it seem so easy for us to ignore the mind-numbing horrors of the Japanese invasion of China (prior to WW2) and the "Rape of Nanking". The atrocities committed, including unbelievable and systematic 'medical experiments' on their Chinese victims (the details of which make Dr Mengele sound merciful!!), were the vilest I have ever heard of. Not to mention their occupation of Korea. But even more recent genocides have gone unheeded till too late; Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge; Ruwanda....and the rest.

Until we stop viewing other ethnic groups as 'them' instead of 'us' - as One human family - it won't stop. If we consider another nation's people not worthy of help (or sacrifice) because they're not 'like us', and therefore must deserve their tyrants etc., we are not worthy of our own hard-won freedoms. It begins in each individual heart.

Peace is not the absence of conflict; it's the absence of inner conflict.

Well said, Makera.
Peace is the absense of HATE.
Songs of Love and Hate examined the duality within all of us, perhaps one cannot exist without the other. It may be those two opposing forces that keep the universe in equillibrum. A slant towards Good or Peace is no bad thing however.
The Holocaust and other attrocities show the total evil that exists in all of us and is suppressed by normal family values. Once the evil is sparked or triggered, it is difficult to extinguish.

I'd go along with that Georges... with one proviso, love an hate, goodness or badness is there for a purpose, everything has balance when we can identify our enemies (philosophical or physical).

If we move toward a life where we judge harshly , and treat as criminals those who swear, those who smoke we are in danger of polarisation, and persecution of people with " little faults".

My question is once we get rid of all of the evil in the world where do we stop, once the PC people in this world have cleansed us of the smokers, the swearers, the people who make innocuous joke about cultural stereotypes, people who talk dirty who do we move onto next.... us because we post to a newsgroup...the man who does not cut his lawn often enough... the woman with the hairy armpits??
