You're such an imaginative woman and
charming, poignant, lovely writer, Cate.
Thanks for sharing your Kingston.
Our homes are such a comfort.
I wish you cheesecake and blueberry tea.
One day she'll say yes. She won't be able to resist you.

I lift my glass,
Lizzy

Lizzy's right...how could ANYONE resist?

I too loved "Kingston". Can we break the rules and call it a poem? Can we pleeeease break the rules?

Warmly,

If the opportunity ever arose, I would definitely have cheesecake & blueberry tea with you, Caty, my dear one.

ahh you're sweet, well I don't know that for sure, but if the opportunity ever arose ... teasing - cheesecake and tea would be lovely with you my dear Manna.

oh she eventually said yes, really who can resist cheesecake for long. but it's the waiting I dream of, standing outside the window, wanting to go in. Those were happy days but I didn't think to notice it at the time, now I notice.

PH - No we can NOT break the rules, rules are rules for very good rule like reasons and I would never break the rules!
(what exactly are the rules?)

Thank you to all three of you.
Actually thank you to everyone who said words of comfort either here or more quietly, especially the person who said it's okay to bang pots and pans (I don't know how she knew about that) and that it was okay to be comforted.

From the garden muck she digs out

. to the apple tree where she kneels.
Her dirty finger nails slide under
.the leaf embossed edge and tug

. Indulging in secret fantasies
she imagines; a baseball cap,
.a science fair award and blue eyes
that never were. Softly she touches
.the mole on her neck and feels little
.fingers reaching up to snuggle in.
Into the empty box she places
.a tear, seals the top tight and buries
..with with a spade and hands. This spot
. where brothers play tag is better,
less lonely.
Deed done she rises
brushes off her skirt and face
and runs back to the house to make dinner.
Hi Cate. I restrict the areas I write in on this forum, to keep my addiction in check, but as you so graciously endured being accused of my sins in another thread [;-)], I thought I would pop in here to track down this poem and add my appreciation. Very lovely. Keep writing.

HI Diane,

thank you, I think I might to do a few small revisions over the next few days. Somebody sent me a private critique of it with some very solid suggestions.

Now as far as being accused of your sins, I can certainly think of worse things then being falsely credited for a good idea. I see now though that it went further then a simple mistake and was actually a devious plot by Mat to get the four of us in a room together. I just wish Mat would turn off that bow chicka bow bow music as it makes it difficult to concentrate and all the yous are getting tangled making it difficult to tell which you is You especially when he keeps trying to turn the lights out.
