The moral of Byron's statement is simple, wood floats and steel sinks. I would have felt safer with the wood, at least it was divinely inspired. Two doves are better than two cold lookouts.

Tony, i was being flippant and betting on the vision of the birds over two frosty men in the crow's nest.
The Titanic still inspires many myths, the Ark was the saviour of mankind and it's animals from God's Deluge.
Where lies the truth is the important question?
Unless it is Divine Truth, our truth has our impressions stamped over it and therefore is based on perception. Perceptions do NOT make the truth.
Titanic carried myths and dreams and the Ark may have been a myth.
Titanic sank and if we believe the myth, the Ark did not. The truth is above both these ships.
