Rod Stewart

Post by altinkum »

Hi all
I'm searching for a song ( once again  ) its by Rod Stewart, I know its just come out on a compilation but I can't find out which one I think perhaps I don't have the correct title. I thought it was called "If I knew then what I know now" but maybe thats just part of the lyrics. Anyone a Stewart fan that can help? I have been to all kinds of sites but no luck. BTW if anyone remembers some time ago I was searching for a Johnny Cash song, I finally got it!

Hi Altinkum not being a major Rod Stewart fan I don't know the song but this web site looks quite comprehensive

http://members.aol.com/hannuschka/lyrics/ly_frame.htm

I saw Rod Stewart and the Faces playing at the Oval Cricket Ground years ago when they used to have concerts there. The only song I really really like him singing (and I think Chicken Shack did it better) was "I'd rather go blind". But the geezer keeps going and he still does what he does well.

I have just remember "Handbags and the Gladrags". I think the version on "The Office" is by the Sterophonics but RS does a good version of that.

Hi Altinkum, I think you're looking for the song "Ooh La La" from the album When We Were the New Boys. It was released in 1998.
I like that song very much! :)

Love, Susanne

Paula
Thanks for the info I just gave it a quick look, can't find anything under the title that I thought it was, so I probably do have it wrong. I agree with you on the I'd rather go blind song. Although not a big fan of his many years ago I did love his footloose and fancy free album, also an all time favourite song is "the killing of Georgie".
Susanne thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately that was one of the songs on the link that Paula gave that could not supply the lyrics (typical, I bet the odds are that is the song I'm looking for)
Like the other song I was trying to trace I bet I'll get there in the end, it just takes perserverance.
Thank you both

Altinkum,

What was the Johnny Cash song that had us all puzzled?

Hi Rod Stewart Fans!

I like "Forever Young". But in general I do not care for his music. His CD of torch songs from the 1940 he sounds terrible. His voice did not age well at all. :( When you compare his voice to Leonard's, well there is just no comparision! :) Leonard has a smokey bourbon element to his voice whereas Rod just seems to croak. Like he needs water or something.

Hi Margaret
I have only just seen your post. The Johnny Cash song was "To the shining mountains" from his America album. I sent for it a few weeks ago for Ray's birthday next week.

Hi Wendy(Altinkum)

I've been "gathering" lots of Johnnny Cash this week and don't have that particular one. I have got one called simply American Recordings which was about !990 and has Bird on a wire on it amongst others. I also got American 3 and American 4 which are all brilliant, the last being only recorded this year. It really brings tears to your eyes. PM me if you would like some copies

best wishes, Margaret.
