Did anyone notice that Dermot Aherne seemed to suggest that LC laughed at the Irish people's decision to reject Lisbon? The opposite was the case.

"You held on to me like I was a crucifix, as we went kneeling through the dark"
Re the clips on RTE radio.
Had the pleasure of sitting on Leonard's bed, holding the mic, while Ken interviewed him in Jury's Hotel.
Was producing Ken's programme at the time.
God that's the last century!
Had the even greater pleasure of being back there years later to interview him myself, also in Jury's - he was about to sing
Song of Bernadette for me when the Sony PR person interrupted and said my time was up - to have had that on tape!
An opportunity missed!
Yes, I though the inference was there too but Leonard said;
"Ireland continues to bewilder the world. Bless you for affirming you destiny in this vale of tears"
Definite praise.
Oops, not your ears Red Poppy, just my typing!!

Hi Red Poppy
It's not everyone can say they were sitting on Leonard's bed.

That would be about right - it was a kind of desert island discs series tat Radio 1 was running at the time.
I think it had the wonderful title Favourite Five and was only 30 minutes long.
That was the first time I met Leonard.
The next times were to record forty minute radio docs with him.
Always seemed to be put in Jury's in those days.
Maybe because of the Coffee Dock

eh I'd say you mean "that" Radio 1 was running.!!!
I don't remember that programme, but do remember John McKenna doing 2 40 min? documentaries "Tower of Song" I think they were called. Were you involved with those.? I know I recorded them on tape at the time, but not sure if I still have them.
