OK, Ronnie ~

This is what I get......Trident, as I recall, is a chewing gum. So, the chewing gum of heaven, perhaps for bad breath? Hmmm. Where can I go with that!?! OK, Tri ~ means three. Three things are listed. Forget the bad breath. Keep the chewing gum. Wisdom. Wisdom tooth. Can't do anythig with Luxury and Romance in that context. Trident of Heaven. OK. Forget the chewing gum, too. Three things that simply make Heaven be Heaven. Wisdom ~ check. Luxury ~ check. Romance ~ check. Who could ask for more? How many times shall I read it? I have a feeling I still haven't gotten it. Heaven knows I tried  .

That's pretty dangerous stuff....feeling self-destructive? :( Is that what you want to be granted freedom from?...I hope so.

Isn't absinthe some kind of alcohol, Makera :? ? Or is it something with fumes that you sniff  ?

Lizzy~
It is a clear green alcoholic beverage, containing essential oil of Wormwood (Artemisia Absinthium) - highly toxic! (banned in many countries). Absinthe was a favourite liqueur in 19th century France, it was addictive and associated with a collection of side effects known as absinthism (irreversable damage to the central nervous system).
Thujone is the toxic element (a brain stimulant) in wormwood that causes absinthism. The side effects associated with absinthism (from over 4 weeks intake) include auditory and visual hallucinations; tremors; convulsions (seizures); insomnia; paralysis; stomach problems; brain damage; and an increased risk of psychological disorders and suicide.

Why anyone would want to do that to themselves is beyond me! :? :(

WoW   ! Thank you for that information, Makera! A very frightening substance, and banned for good reason. Is there any kind of homeopathic remedy based on absinthium? Maybe it's just the "thium" or "ium" that makes it seem so.

I sincerely hope Ronnie is okay. The "addictive" is obviously concerning, and as I'm recalling, this is the second time here that he's mentioned the drink. The absinthism is terrifying. I don't mean to put Ronnie on public display, but do mean to express my genuine concern with the nature of his mention of it, and now knowing all that the possibilities entail.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth

Oh yes, Liz, wormwood (as a herbal remedy) is used medicinally for a variety of ailments. But only in tincture form, or infusion, and prescribed very judiciously. It is often used to eliminate intestinal worms (pin worms, roundworms) and as an insect repellant, for gardens and pets.

I'm so very glad to hear that Ronnie! :D . You can understand the concern for you, though, I hope....you had written some odd things before, then apologized - citing absinthe. :?
Liz asked me what it was, so I answered. Not trying to meddle, OK?

~Makera

PS.Some of the artists & writers you mentioned were quite barmy, you realize (Van Gogh and Hemingway were suicides).

Thanks again, Makera, for your original explanation to me. Thanks, Ronnie, for your clarifications ~ personally and according to the absinthe currently being marketed. Legitimate concerns, even if they don't happen to apply to you :D .

"Luxe calme, et volupté" said Baudelaire, long before Ronnie. (See L'Invitation au Voyage")
