No. I do not engage in coarse metaphor that belongs on a toilet wall.

It's pretty obvious I'm not welcome here. If you want to have a cheap laugh at my expense, fine. I won't be here to see it. Thanks for driving away another poster.

Newsgirl - I've read your post and enjoyed them, you add value to this forum. A disagreement is not the same as not wanting you - at least I hope not because you wouldn't believe what my first husband said a few hours ago - but I'm pretty sure he still wants me here (umm in my home I mean)

Ey yi yi... do you have any idea, News Gal, how many smelly goats have tromped these pages and eaten words right along with the grass? Leave? Leave?? Surely, you jest.

I'll try to give things another chance, but I'll be very wary from now on of many people.
Cate, what you call a generalization is part of the techniques I was taught in intercultural communication classes. Certain modes of thought DO mark a culture as a whole, and that recognizes some deviation from the norm which is a given--these terms are on average. I think I'm very misunderstood around here for that, and it isn't intended to offend, but intended to get people thinking outside their own little boxes. My interest in the way culture makes people think seems to have singled me out yet again. Let me explain why I find it so important:
Your culture controls everything you do, from when you wake up to when you go to bed and even what you dream about. That's why I'm adamant in knowing where people are from, because those experiences color the way they think. Understanding what makes peoples' minds work the way they do is what drives me in this case, but it bothers too many people who don't understand my rationale for doing it.

Hi N.G.,
I'm not sure your conclusion is entirely accurate...I do think most here are at least somewhat aware that their thinking is very much a product of cultural conditioning... certainly those interested in Leonard Cohen might be said to be, generally speaking, a bit outside of mainstream ideas, and so more self aware (one can hope)... so... I'd say you are in good company, and that it's just getting used to things around here, and getting a sense of the differing personalities, etc., that you're dealing with...
glad you'll try and stick around,

we've barely talked, but I think I have sexual feelings for you...
just to let you know, I am truly serious.... I think you are smart, charming and quite humorous. Your posts make me smile…and your name is pretty cool as is your personality. Actually, you're quite the charmer. I am digging you my sweet sweet Vi-O- let... O- let..let…let me make you feel alive, you are the reasons why I hang out here on the Nick Cave board. You are the girl of my wet dreams, and frankly, I want to …. I want to … I want…. I want you vi-O-let.

News Gal,
I do have native heritage. My mother is Anishnabek.
I don't take much offence to Geoffrey. After reading many of his posts over the years especially in the politics thread he really has shown he hasn't much to say worth hearing - for me anyway. He can keep on blah-blahing all he wants.
I've worked as a prison guard for a great many years and am exposed to his ilk quite regularly. If you don't have a thick skin in that kind of work you don't survive.
As far as my 'poem' is concerned, like it or don't. At the end of the day it won't matter much in the scheme of things. And those such as Lizzytish who are aware of what my life has been like the past few months, well, they probably have a better understanding of where it is coming from.
As to 'we' or 'I' or 'you,' hey make your choice and live in your little dispirited hole. I won't climb down there with you.

I liked it a lot actually. By putting your work here, it's open to a lot of things--and this thread is now why I probably won't ever put one up again LOL. Not worth it.
As for that last line of the comment, I'm not sure how to interpret that. If anything, I'm hardly dispirited--rather just misunderstood. A lack of effort to understand could very well make me leave this place, although I am giving it another go.
