Tickets arrived today!

Post by AmeliaBedelia »

There they were, in the mail :) I selected standard shipping and they arrived within a week.

Scalpers aside, I've discovered since visiting this forum that the LC movement is alive. I'm sorry for all the people who, due to credit card, password, billing address, etc. issues were not able to purchase tickets. I truly believe that there are a lot of genuine fans out there, and that is the main reason why the Leonard Cohen crew are able to charge so much and still be able to sell out all these dates. I believe that the Ticketmaster charges are outrageous (really? ~15% handling fee per ticket?) but I also feel that the true drive of these flash-fast ticket sales is the high demand by his many, many fans.

If you've been a fan for 40,30,20 years, you're not the only one.

Hi AmeliaBedelia,

Congratulations on actually receiving your tickets! You must be thrilled! This has been a difficult stretch with all the presales, problems with the dreaded Ticketmaster and just plain nerves while attempting book seats online. Throughout it all though the most wonderful thing is realizing how popular and well-loved Leonard is in America! So many of us have encountered the "Leonard who?" responses that I was beginning to despair a bit of filling venues during the US Tour. The Beacon concert was so awesome but I wondered if this could be repeated. However, the first glimmerings of hope were in all the new members to the Forum! Some I'm sure have joined simply to participate in the presales but you know, it doesn't matter. The important thing is that his fans are coming out in droves!

I'm not sure if anyone else has welcomed you yet but allow me to say it's nice to have you with us, and hope you will stay around. :D This Forum is a warm place to be and you also might want to check out the leonardcohenfiles.com (also created by Jarkko) and speakingcohen.com (created by the marvelous Marie). Both are great sites!

All the best,
Diana

To be honest, I think the last time I searched for anything Leonard Cohen online was about 10 years ago, when I was in college. I guess I'm one of the fans who simply enjoys the music - I don't know a lot of trivia about him, I haven't seen him live, no clue about certain setlists from certain dates, etc. - because it is beautiful and it moves me. I am one of the few people I know who is a fan, although most people I know recognize who he is. Believe it or not, I only heard about his North American tour through my celebrity gossip page. I actually came to the board AFTER I bought tickets to 4/13, so I was not really a part of the initial presale ticket frenzy.

I find it natural that people who have been on the boards for a long time and very outspoken about being a fan for decades feel territorial about him. But I'm glad to have found this forum and thanks for the welcome! I hope I can contribute and be helpful here and there.
