There are those who like to parse my words
And pick apart my breathe
Finding mistakes in every typed typo
And weakness in what I've said
You can call me a fool or sensitive
You can call me late for dinner
Out the window is my real life
I'm new but I'm not a beginner
It's hard to be loud
When I don't know how
I can't crank the dial past seven
If I were angry
If I were envy
You could call me Green Eleven
Green Eleven
I've got friends I like who tell me things
That I wish I could believe
I don't listen to what I want to hear
And what I hear I misperceive
It drives you crazy
That I don't care
But I don't do anything for you
Not even Freud
Could figure me out
So why do you think that you do?
It's hard to be loud
When I don't know how
I can't crank the dial past seven
If I were angry
If I were envy
You could call this Green Eleven
Green Eleven
I've got friends who like to tell me things
I'd rather keep to myself
Pick apart each word I say
And leave the reason on the shelf
I'm chronically wrong
Substance over form
Backing up against the wall
Baby steps
Are all that's left
I've got to walk before I crawl
It's hard to be loud
When I don't know how
I can't crank the dial past seven
If I were angry
If I were envy
You could call me Green Eleven
If I were loud envy
If I were loud envy
If I were loud envy
If I were loud envy

Just scroll down until you find my name, John Kloberdanz, and click it.
It's my third submission. The way it works: The moderators provide a title, and those who wish to participate write and record a song with that title. Then people vote for their favorites.
When they move on to the next songfight, Green Eleven won't be on that front page, you'll need to look in their archives and find my name and then click on that song.
I realized that "Green Eleven" could be slang for "loud envy"; a combination of being green with envy, along with turning the dial past ten. I combined that idea with ramblings about recent chats on Facebook, feeling like a Prodigal Son, and getting my website up after years of dithering. Note, it's "IF I were loud envy", LOL! Also, I'm not referring to Young dr. Freud, it's the real Freud!

Link works not for me, John. I just get a blank white page. But I found several of your songs on another site. One called 'Church Street' was really good, I thought. Simple, in a positive way (like 'Blowing in the Wind') and strong. Liked it a lot, and will listen to it again. I think you are at your best with slow acoustic songs and minimum accompaniment. Good clear sound with prominent voice that doesn't get lost in the instruments. Great text on that one as well. Be careful Simon and Garfunkel don't steal it. Catchy melody; only heard it once and already I can hum it. This was refreshing, and welcome. Thank you.

Re: Green Eleven (Loud Envy)
LOL! Thanks for the nice compliments Geoffrey! If Paul Simon liked my lyric so much he felt compelled to steal it, then I might be so flattered that I wouldn't sue him. And that was my website you were at.Geoffrey wrote:John K. wrote:

The link did work for me just now, I have no idea why it didn't for you, maybe they were having server issues at that moment.
