All thanks to Jarrko and all the other LCF folks.

My sweetie and I bought our Austin tickets through the pre-sale. Very good seats we believed and later confirmed by a friend who works shows at the venue. But, because of some of the info being posted about other cites and seats, we decided to try to public sale to see if we could get something in the orchestra within the first 10 rows. (By the way, I learned there was also a public radio pre-sale on Wednesday after it had already happened).

Anyway, the short version is that the website was busy, mostly no good seats in pairs, one VIP package popped up on one refresh (but I couldn't justify the price), and within 10 minutes all seats were sold.

If not for the pre-sale we'd be sitting in the balcony. So again, extreme gratitude for all the efforts to help the fans have a fair shot against the scalpers.

Looking forward to April 2.

Does anyone know what the password is for the Friends and Family tickets for the Detroit Fox Theatre concert? I couldn't get any tickets for the Wednesday presale despite trying for hours. Hoping to get tickets this time.
Many thanks, Elliot in Ann Arbor

Does anyone have a decent answer to Elliot's question? Friends & Family password for the Detroit show? Thanks.

While people are at it, how about Edmonton? None of the ones I've found on the internet work.

Dont' know the friends and family password, but the AEG/Radio/Venue password is takethiswaltz. Tried it for friends and family - didn't work. Still trying for Seattle seats, but can't get anything closer than row 30.

Wow that does work. Thanks.

How good are floor seats? 26 rows back? I imagine not great.

I think those are considered to be pretty good seats...however, it depends on the venue and if it's flat...if it's flat and there is an elevated seat not much further back, it makes more sense.

Yeah. It is flat. It's a hockey rink unfortunately. But this also means that the elevated seats are quite a ways back.

Anyway, I bought them AEG / Venue / Radio presale.

The only other conern I have is whether or not the fact that I used this code will mean that there'll be some demand for identification made when we show up with the tickets. Using a code, in other words, won't invalidate them - if the code is obtained via, say, the internet.

I imagine not, but I'm still a little concerned. (never done it this way before)

The laughable farce and confusion of pre-sale tickets continued today in Detroit.

I did get the Family and Friends passcode of "takethiswaltz". To no surprise of mine, it didn't work in the Family and Friends section on Ticketmaster.com. Once again, a notice popped up saying it wasn't a password in their records.

So for the hell of it, I tried using it in the AEG pre-sale section. What do you know? The password of "takethiswaltz" meant for F&F, worked therein AEG with no problem.

The only thing it showed me was $129 seats. So I will still hold off and take my chances for Monday. And who knows? Maybe I would have been screwed out of the tickets or the right ordered tickets considering the password worked for the wrong area today.

I can tell that LC and his ppl have not been on the road for 15 years. They clearly can't get this "new age" internet stuff to work properly for them it seems. 15 years ago, I would have bought tickets in person at the Ticketmaster booth in the local Harmony House store. (Michigan based music store chain that went belly up about 10 years ago)

Yeah it worked for for me today.. If by "fine" you mean the password worked in the exact opposite place.

And since I had enough of this whole deal, I got so fed up I did drop an e-mail to the Department of Justice about it. Doubt anything will come of it though knowing US politics.

by "fine for them" I meant they're getting all the revenue they were planning on. Seats are not going unsold.

Oh yeah. I gotcha. I know tons of money is being made already and will continue to be, with or without me getting to attend the show.

But here's a list of concerts I've been to in the area since Sept. 2006. Most were pre-sale and lucky to be in front row:

Roger Waters, The Who (3-times), Van Morrison (2-times), James Hunter (3-times solo), Genesis, Bruce Springsteen and The East Street Band, ASIA, Reo Speedwagon/Kansas, The Police (2-twice, once with Elvis Costello), Joe Jackson, Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins, Jenny Lewis (on her own), Morrisey, Chris Issack and James Hunter, and Brian Wilson.. (may have left out a few).

In all this time, I never had the run around feeling and issues of getting a ticket properly like for this.

Now I'm beginning to get worried. I've got the tickets - they're being mailed to me in the next couple days. Paid the money. Ended up paying 164.74. I'm hoping that's good and done. That once I have those tickets there won't be any concerns at the venue.

Yikes. I spent a lot of money on this.

I signed up for pre-sale with the Cohen website and I believe this one but have had no notifications at all. Austin was sold out 6 minutes or less after opening. There are already ticket scalper slash broker tickets available just like NYC. Loosing my faith in live music.
