Voice of Tears
tell me what you were looking for
when you went over the edge
who did you expect to discover there
abiding by some long forgotten pledge
could they sense the boil beneath the flesh
festering with so many nights and years
I am here before you and have nothing to say
with a hand of nothing, and a voice of tears
tell me what you expected to happen
when your plans came together at last
was the burden of existence relieved from you
so unto less fortunate shoulders it could be passed ?
and now nothing means much to you it seems
except these murderous slings, arrows, and spears
I live in a world of fog and cannot escape
from my own hand of nothing, my voice of tears
so if I should see you ever again
how could I greet you, what could I say ?
I could say I’ve moved on, I’ve forgotten it all
but it would be a lie either way
and I will then make allowances for what I can’t control
so I can eradicate all these needless fears
only then would I face you again
without this hand of nothing, without this voice of tears
voice of tears

Hi J ~
I like very much the way your poems address relationships' deceptions of survival. We've all attempted to get by with them, but they never seem to quite work the way we want. We're really in trouble when that significant other sees through them, and has the key for flinging the door wide open, to catch us naked with our true emotions.
