Don't undress yourself yet

Post by Laura »

Ok, I confess, this is not my poem... It's just my translation of a spanish song that I like. As I don't actually speak spanish, it did require some imagination too, though! And I thought it perfectly fits the topic of this section of the forum... which is not exactly "poetry and music by the forum members" anymore. ;-)

Don't undress yourself yet, wait a little longer
Don't hurry, time is something that remains behind.
The eternity is a heartbeat, a single heart
yours and mine embraced in perfect union.

When the desire breaks through, like a flower blooms
I will take off your clothes, I will cover you with love
And while we wait for that, I'd ask you
Don't undress yourself yet.

I don't want you to uncover all the truth to me just yet.
I want to watch you with the eyes of the dawn
As the night watches that day that's late in getting born.
So don't undress yourself just yet.

He he, Mat, some mystery and some teasing, yeah. ;-)

Woody, the singer of that is called Luis Eduardo Aute (actually, he's writing his own lyrics, too). I mentioned him in the "other music" section once, as he has a song on his last album with the name of Leonard Cohen in it (and the name of the song is Alelluya). But his older songs-like this "undressing" one-are nicer, I think.
I'm afraid I can't really recommend any spanish music, as I'm not spanish! I just happen to pick up a singer or two when I spend more time in other countries. My ipod has on it songs in 6 or 7 languages; and sometimes I don't understand a word out of them, but music touches me even without the words.
