Hi.

Barb Jungr is a very good friend of mine. At this concert she will also be performing a lot of Jacques Brel material as well as some Bob Dylan and Nina Simone. It is a one off concert as Barb normally focuses on her song cycles of individual artists. One I am looking forward to at this concert is her new translation and interpretation of Brel's "The Bulls".

I update news regularly at her myspace page which is http://www.myspace.com/barbjungrchanson

Some more news.

In March Barb is thrilled to be invited to perform in a 3 week engagement at New York's premier cabaret room the Cafe Carlyle, at the Carlyle Hotel with an entirely new show. Barb will present her concert version of The Men I Love, featuring songs by North American songwriters including Dylan, Cohen, Springsteen, Simon and more, in stunning new arrangements by Barb and Simon Wallace, with whom she worked on her best selling album of Bob Dylan songs.

I really enjoyed her version of Suzanne (on her myspace page). Very inventive and very subtly so. I have her Dylan covers album which is excellent but does not have Like a Rolling Stone which I think she has completely reinvented (saw it on youtube). Would be very interested to hear her version of Springsteen songs - I think there are great possibilities for her of completely reinventing many of his songs in directions that he never intended or even thought of (e.g. Thunder Road, New York City Serenade, Jungleland etc). Maybe with just piano, horn, bass guitar accompaniment... would be awesome I think.

Like A Rolling Stone is on Barb's album - Waterloo Sunset.

I'm not sure which Springsteen songs Barb is working on yet. I'll certainly let you know whan I do.

Thanks ninas.s...I have to say I liked the live/youtube version of Like a Rolling Stone much better but thats not to say this one won't grow on me. Look forward to the new recordings.

Yes, those songs are always much stronger when Barb performs them live. I'm sure you will love the album version though.
