Any Chance of Leonard Cohen Coming to Israel?
Any Chance of Leonard Cohen Coming to Israel?
Hi,
My name is Oran and I live in New Zealand but am spending this year studying music in Israel. I just found out about the Pacific tour and was kicking myself because since the age of 16 it has been my dream to see Leonard Cohen and now that he is coming to New Zealand, I won't even be there!!!!
I'm new to this forum and don't really know how it works, or who has the tour information at hand, but is there ANY chance of Leonard Cohen coming to Israel? This would make my year!
Who can I email or call to talk about this? I see on leonardcohenfiles.com that new dates are added to the tour from time to time - any chance of twisting somebody's arm to get him to come to this part of the world?
Thank you,
Oran.
Please help a HUGE fan if you can?! I'm not the only one here in Israel - I'm sure Leonard could fill many many concert halls!

As far as we know the 3rd and 4th legs of the tour do not include Israel, and it remains to be seen what happens after that.
Israel was in the tentative itinerary for summer 2008, but as we know the local promoter in Israel dropped the plan,
because, according to his comment in a local newspaper, "Cohen is not selling tickets". I called that the understatement of the year.

Dear Jarkko, you are mentioning a 4th leg of the tour. I would like to ask what we know about that.
I assume it's a US (-North American) tour but I guess you know better

The Pacific leg is the 3rd leg, and later in the Spring, according to Leonard's manager Robert Kory (in his interview in MOJO), the tour continues in North America. I'd like to name this the 4th leg.
From the Mojo interview:

The interview was probably made quite early, and the plans changed - now we know that between the European and US/Canadian legs there is this extra tour in the Pacific area (and no time for the next album). So, assuming he has enough that meet his exacting standard, he may start recording a new album between the end of the European tour and the start of his first US jaunt in years in the late spring.

I just wish to point out that there are really a lot of faithful and desperate fans here in Israel, (a few thousand people easily), who have been bitterly disappointed by the cancellation of this historic concert. However, we are still hopeful.

Myself, I exclusively flew twice to Italy to see Mr. Cohen, and as I posted here in another thread, there's a quiet migration from Israel to Europe to see his concerts during summer and fall.
I heard about the “not selling ticket” argument. Yet the same companies brought Sean Kingston (??), Blondie, Air Supply and several other "highly ticket selling" fiascos.
LC audience is more than willing to spend a considerable amount of money in order to see a concert here in Israel. (I already spent ~3,000 Euros and I promise to buy another ticket once he comes here.)

Aren't the concerts sold out everywhere?"Cohen is not selling tickets"

Re: Any Chance of Leonard Cohen Coming to Israel?
So does anyone know how to contact Leonard Cohen's manager or someone of that stature? I'm seriously depressed here. I will personally organize an audience if he comes! Any way to get hold of someone up there in the decision-making arena???

See the Latest News page of Leonardcohenfiles.com, there you'll find the address of the management.

According to "Scooby Doo", in Bournemouth there even was a person in the audience holding up a poster:
"I've been to Paris, Berlin and now Bournemouth, how about coming to Israel? " (cf. the Bournemouth concert thread).
