Beast

Post by Ronnie »

I am a beast
I bear a burden
I have grown old
Locked in your garden

You are like a child
You don’t fear pain
You dance with joy
You wear no chains

He’s like a fool
He knows not care
His life is clean
His life is fair

I am an ox
I wear a yoke
I plough the field
In which I’m stuck

She’s a concrete flower
She’s a vain dilettante
She loves her pleasures
She loves her fancy

I am a beast
Locked in your garden
I feel your pain
I feel your burden

Hi Ronnie~

Excellent poem! :D

Do you like Robbie Burns? (Scotland's most famous poet, for those who may not know)

My father came from Ayrshire; where are you "roamin' in the gloamin'"?

"There was a soldier, a Scottish soldier, who wandered far away, and soldiered far away....." (Love that song).

Hello Makera

I like Robert Burns very much, I live in a small village about 20 miles away from where he came from, In particular I like his poems "Corn Rigs" and "The Raptures of Folly" in the film The Wicker Man a folk singer named Paul Giovanni performs a version of "Corn Rigs". The words to Corn Rigs can be found easiliy on the web

Speaking of The Wicker Man I would recommend this film to any lover of poetry, It contains poems by Robert Burns, Walt Whitman, Anthony Schaeffer, and Paul Giovanni used in context in trhe film

regards

Ronnie
