As I recall, it was Judy Collins, who encouraged a young Leonard Cohen, stage fright struck,
to get back to his song, after starting to walk off stage. Ah, but we should all have those
kinds of friends, there, when we really need them. I've favored Judy Collins' songs,
more than her voice (which I find a bit shrill), but, among her better delivered songs,
i.m.o., are those of Leonard Cohen.

Hi Steven ~

Have you listened to Judy's album of strictly Leonard's songs, the one most recently released? It's very rich. These will be interesting to hear.

Hi Lizzy,

I've only heard some selections from it on a college radio station. Was a pun intended
with, "It's very rich" as in "Isn't it rich... ("Send In The Clowns")? :) I take it that
youve heard the allbum and recommend it, yes?

Haha. What a shame to not be able to take credit for such a pun; however, no, it wasn't intended... and I meant it's really rich, very lush in its sound. I've heard that album, as I own it; I haven't heard anything from the one you're posting about here. I will, though. I used to feel as you do about Judy's voice. It just seemed more thin and tight... i.e. "shrill"? On her latest album [that I own], it seems quite contrary.

Hi Lizzy,

My perception of her voice is based largely on recordings from a long time ago.
Glad to hear that the album you have has her singing "quite contrary" to what
we didn't prefer. A voice I've always found great is that of Emmylou Harris;
were she to do an album of Leonard Cohen material, she'd nail it, i.m.o.

The CD is out in Europe now. Could someone tell me the time length of the track that Leonard Cohen performs on?

This album seems to be delayed and it is announced to be launched now in USA in October - same in the UK.
The Webb Sisters beautiful contribution "Fortune of Soldiers" and Leonard's track are definitely :) on the album.
