our life without Leonard's music
our life without Leonard's music
I wonder what our life would look like without LC music. How his work (music, poetry, voice...) influences us and changes our life.

Good question, which I should put more thought into, however I would just like to say, that I know some feel his music is depressing but for me it has had an opposite affect right from the first time I heard him. I can't quite put my finger on what it is. It probably has to do with while listening to his music you end up doing just that, listening,to words that are speaking directly to you, from a heart and soul that understands. The Window is a particular favorite of mine.
Using his lines are another favorite of mine, I will quote one of his lines, and my husband just looks at me and says "Leonard Cohen?" I say " yup".
I still remember what someone on the board said to me, when I first became a fan of Leonards and arrived on the board. "Welcome to the world of Leonard Cohen" and it is a world of its own.
We can be very thankful to this man who over the years has given us so much of himself.

The first time I heard cohen was while backpacking as a newly-liberated teenager fresh out of high school. A German and his spanish girlfriend had a tape player and a cohen album. We were camping on a beach in Gran Canaria. I remember listening to "the Master song" over and over, and Suzanne, and being astonished at this very singular talent. The insight into a woman's craving for a man with power/wealth, and the spurned lover's bitterness made me feel naked and ashamed, for we all share those cravings, I think. I just had never heard anyone write about them. I think he is still the only one who writes these complex songs, such a mis of the sacred and the profane. So human.
and, ah, suzanne. Still the best lines written about Jesus, I think. He took Jessu beyone politics of religion for me, with those words.
After 30 years of listening, I am still discovering fresh insights.
Heck, I am still collecting albums, and have just discovered "The Window".
