Re: To DUBLIN OR NOT
Well I wonder if those same people actually know the man as opposed to thinking they know something about him. Big difference in a little world. Music is not a race - liveand let live. And he has probably saved as many lives as any other rock star, including LC.
In your opinion dynamiks whatever you call yourself. Not in mine. Smart one-liners don't alter people's right to like the music that you obviously don't.

Obviously you missed the joke - try again.
"pi·e·ty (p-t)
n. pl. pi·e·ties
1. The state or quality of being pious, especially:
a. Religious devotion and reverence to God.
b. Devotion and reverence to parents and family: filial piety.
2. A devout act, thought, or statement.
3.
a. A position held conventionally or hypocritically.
b. A statement of such a position"
Which label would you like to stick to me?
Bono has written (or co written) some great songs to my mind.
Leonard Cohen has written some great songs to my mind.
Both have written some crap songs.
Politically Bono has been more active (like his politics or not).
It's not a frigging competition, though.
To each his/her own.
So live and let live.

I’ve always thought of U2 as fairly good pub band that just got lucky, and good luck to them.
It’s their little irksome egotist of a frontman that rattles my cage.
For a starter what clear thinking Orishman (North or South) would even think of dropping down on one knee before the Queen Of England to accept an honorary knighthood, except of course his fellow ‘warrior against poverty’ Sir Bob Geldoff.
As for Bonehead himself here was a man who incited audiences to condemn western politicians for not sending enough of their taxpayers money to the third world, whilst quietly avoiding tax himself. His defence at the time if I remember was something along the lines of, ‘we are just trying to be tax-efficient’.
Then there was the court case over his hat.
So now thanks to Bonehead’s ceaselessly hard work, campaigning and dedication, the world is able to relax in the knowledge that Bonehead’s hat can be flown around the world first class and that when a famous person dies, Bonehead will always be first in line to yammer off a stupid tribute that'll only partially be about hats.
I really thought the the ‘clap your hands’ story would put an end to his ‘ I am the voice of god’ complex, but of course I was wrong.
I think it’s such a good story it’s always worth repeating.
Headline :Stop Bono Before He Kills Again!
Bono is at a U2 concert in Glasgow when he asks the audience for some quiet.
Then in the silence, he starts to slowly clap his hands.
Holding the audience in total silence, he says softly and seriously into the microphone ...
"Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies......"
A voice from near the front pierces the silence: "Well, fuckin' stop doin' it then!"
So these would be just some of the thoughts that would distract me from Leonard's performance if ever the little moron did have the audacity to jump on stage to join Leonard.
Just in case you have missed my point and as you are fond of dictionary definitions howsabout ….

Re: To DUBLIN OR NOT
Once you're happy Ken that's the important thing - and you're balanced, chips on both shoulders.
You're also a fascist who doesn't allow others the luxury of their own likes and dislikes.
And hey if you say allthese things they must be true.
Heaven forbid anyone should have a contrary opinion.
So what would you say to a singer who asked a journalist to take her top off if she wanted an interview?
Would you condemn him for his chauvinistic, sexist attitude?
Would you say he was egotistical?
Anyway, fuck all the kids who are dying ......they can speak for themselves, isn't that right?

Goodness gracious I'm truly shocked by your rather coarse and vulgar reponse.
We will obviously just have to agree to differ on the subject of ol' Bonehead.

can't help it, must be genetic
by the way i have a strong suspicion that U2 will be playing the new O2 early next year, if not before.

Wow ken! I just had to comment on your posts. I've always said the same about Bonehead, an utter tax evasive jerk, with an ego the size of the continent of Africa, but never have I read my feelings on the idiot put so eloquently! Have just been giving a big bualadh bos here.Firm words of wisdom. It would be a sad, sad day indeed if he hijacked Leonard's performances coming up in Dublin. I'm not willing to risk it! Gonna see him in France or Spain instead. Many, many thanks for your wonderful thoughts on him. I'm actually gonna print it out and hang it up!
