Guys,Guys,
Leonard is legend and he has shown us what he can do. Having been in Dublin and Edinburgh for his gigs there I have fulfilled a dream of hearing him in person yet again .It took 15 years for he to come back to us , life is too short to commit him to memory at this stage ,do we not all have copies of his albums and poetry and his interviews ? which we have played over and over again .

As to saturation point well can one get too much of a good thing ? I say not , As to price and expence that up to one's self .

Let me pose a question to all you out there who love Leonard with a passion
If (and actually) when his new album is released would you question the price should it be @ €30.00 for ten songs?

I rest for the time being

Always yours

Gregor

When booking tickets does anyone know if it is possible to choose your seats? The 'Best Available' as deemed by ticketmaster wouldn't necessarily be where you might pick of the available seats.

Looking at the seating chart those marked in blue at yellow to the extreme right and left would seem to be great seats on paper but looking at the chart not so much. Rows A-L seats 25-54 seem quite nice ;-) .

So, any tips on booking good seats, or is it just a case of taking what you are allocated? (this is assuming that I'm booking at a time when good stuff is still available)

As you say that block looks ok!! ... too good certainly for the likes of me I would hazard a guess - The O2 are offering VIP membership , which gives priority booking for the best seats (A-L 25-54??), complimentry tickets and access to the VIP bar its a snip at ..... $10, 000 euro ...... per year!!

The layout does look good though much better than the old Point

As for booking tips .... wellll if Manchester was anything to go by some of the best seats were'nt released until near the concert date also maybe this forum will be blessed again with a special release due to Jarkos wonderful work. My advice would be to get the best tickets you can when they are first released then keep trying to get better ones, if and when they are released, then sell the original ones (at cost price of course) or give them away they would make great birthday presents! ... Unless this time they sell them on some sort of ID basis where only the buyer and 1 other can use the seat - which is what was done for Tom Waits.

I'm sure I won't manage tickets to get tickets right in front of the stage, but would prefer say Yellow Blocks D, C or E to A or B, though A & B could be allocated as best available over D/C/E by ticketmaster, though maybe not.

Gregor,
If it were 30 euro for ten songs it would mean the record company were (yet again) ripping off artist and punter.
Guys, might it not be better to wait until (if and when) the booking opens before worrying about where you're going to sit? :?

Red Poppy,

I don't care in which section of the Dublin O2 I will be located, as long as I'm sitting between your good self and Michelle Rocca (but don't tell Van.....).

It's best to take what you can get when trying to buy online, you would be able to choose if you bought in a shop but only if you had a nice sales person obviously, and that there was time to look, not normally an option in the first 10 minutes. There is one thing to point out, ticketmaster doesn't like to leave 1 ticket on it's own. So if for example the only tickets left were 3 on the front row and 4 on the back row, and you wanted 2 tickets you would be allocated the back row.

Excuse me, folks, but are we not still talking theory here? Theoretical concert in theoretically finished Point? The only confirmed act at the Point is Coldplay on Dec 21st - that's according to the point website.

I think that someone has hacked into the leonardcohen.com site and put that Dublin date in just for laughs .
But I can still see demellons gang in the front row :!:

The constructors would have done us all a favour if they had buried Coldplay beneath the new Dublin O2...

I would go and see the man again after seeing him in Dudlin and in Nice. I think he will change the set for autumn tour but even if he doesn't I'll still go along and sing along to the songs that I've loved for so long. To say that Leonard Cohen is milking the fans is wrong. He is genuinely enjoying the concerts and playing his music to the people that he has touched throughout his career.

Yes it's only theoretical yet, and may not happen. I don't see anything unusual about discussing a potential concert date.

Basically what I am saying is that the cost of tickets is not an issue. Yes €30 is a rip off but any real cohenite would pay that for a new disc. Leonard was ,by his own addimission robbed of $5million ,for him to carry on and give us all joy he needs to recoup his losses ,(look what's happening here Gov.etc petrol food etc.). However should Leonard be in the point in Dec. perhaps three gigs is streeching it a bit ,what's the capacity of the point 12,000 multiply by 3 will it be filled ????? . Thats not for me to answer, the sunday night in Dublin was not full.
I would go €115 again ,nothing confirmed that Dublin is happening.
Should it happen ,and I hope it does ,could we set up a pre - gig meet for all Cohenites so as to get into the mood and really give it a bash. At 73 going on 40 he may not be around again and the joy he has given to thousands he's worth it
I could go on etc. but it all has been said and as Leonard says
"Ring the bells that can be rung"...
Regards
Gregor.

Tommy
- I'm not saying Leonard is milking the fans, I'm saying there may not be the demand (at those prices) to see him again so soon but yes I most definitely am saying the fans are being milked on two fronts. Firstly, by the vastly over priced tickets costs that Irish promoters charge (at a time when the Euro/Dollar swing is very much in their favour) and, secondly, by the fact that some people have paid a lot of money to travel across Europe to concerts only to discover those same concerts may now be on their doorstep.
Announcing all of the wInter tour gigs together (if there is an extensive winter tour) would have been considerate to fans.
And good for you if you can afford to see him here and in Nice but not everyone can.
Gregor -
not sure what your point is regarding food and petrol prices. If it's that Gov & oil companies are ripping us off, I agree. But that hardly justifies promoters doing the same!
