KD was in London a few nights ago and I can't believe I missed her, she's fantastic. I believe the show was brilliant (what else would you expect). I meant to book tickets last year and then forgot (so stupid). Enjoy the show St. Teresa, you lucky thing.

Hi St Theresa,
Thought you might like this review of the recent London concert.
http://music.guardian.co.uk/live/story/ ... 75,00.html
Nice things said about her version of Hallelujah.
Her rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah is mesmerising: she reaches into the air, plucking the tiniest note from within her huge range, bends double, before throwing her head back and unleashing her pitch-perfect roar.
Hope you get a ticket and enjoy the concert.
Look after yourself and (each)others. All the best Dave ♫♫♫

Hi Dave
and thanks for the review. Kind of explains why she has been off the tour circuit while at the same time giving her credit for her talent. I am anxious to hear some of her own music for a change--loved her hymn s to the 49th parallel. Hallelujah was one of them. I first heard her version while driving through Red Deer (her original stomping grounds) on an unbelievably beautiful day of prairie storms. Suddenly, CBC was playing KD at the Jack Singer hall in Calgary, singing Hallelujah. I also witnessed the power of her voice many years ago at the Edmonton Folk Fest. In those days, no one commented on her awkward body movements, but she was much younger and slimmer then....

I saw what looked to be a new CD by KD lang in Starbuck's last night and i think the songs were new ones. I Hope she comes to San francisco. I saw her here about two or three years ago and she is one of the few artists i know who sounds better in person than recordings. She sang one song (can't remember which one) A Capella and without a microphone. It was quite impressive.

Hi Frisco girl
I did pick up the new kd lang cd 'Watershed' --it amazes me that someone can write brand new songs, that reflect who they are and have them sound like music that has always been here. I don't mean that they sound like old songs, but rather like classics right from the start. I have read that Anne murray was her idol as a young girl. Well one of them. Patsy Klein another. All these women had that ineffable something. Star quality I guess. I am curious what others think of her new songs. Let me know!

St. Teresa of Avila headaches
St. Therese of Lisieux aviators, florists, missions, Russia
St. Catherine of Sweden Patron saint of miscarriage prevention
St. Cecilia Patron saint of musicians
St. Gerard Majella childbirth, expectant mothers, pregnant women
Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Patronage: ecologists; ecology; environment; environmentalism; environmentalists; exiles; loss of parents; people in exile; people ridiculed for their piety

Your greeting piqued my curiousity so I looked up patron saints and found some surprises.

basking in the after glow of the kd concert last night.
WOW!!! What a powerful singer and what a great woman. The doctor was in the house last night.
The University of Alberta is awarding kd an honorary Doctorate of laws tomorrow afternoon. So she will be Dr. kdlang.
It was a thrill to listen to her live after all these years, surrounded by some exceptional musicians.
The audience welcomed kd home in grand style and she reciprocated with performing some of her stage antics from her early years. So many hits so few mine--she quipped before launching into her own stylings of Helpless and Hallelujah. The amount of energy she put into Hallelujah, brought the sold out crowd at the Jubilee to their feet for a full five minutes. Kd featured many of her new Watershed songs and as I mentioned in an earlier post, they sounded like classics. Constant craving and Ms Chatelaine reminded us of an earlier time. Kd does with Jane Siberry's music what Jane can only dream of.
On a personal note, I enjoyed very much the fact that my son's Grade 12 commencement was on the same stage--just a few short weeks ago and that both kd and my son chose to grace that particular stage in bare feet. something to remember! Kd receives her doctorate on the same stage.. I wonder if she will also go barefoot.

I saw KD Lang tonight in Oxford, she was phenomenal, knockout. Her voice is the voice of an angel, she has an amazing control that seems unbelievable. Lovely theatre with an intimate feel, how I wish I could see Leonard in a smaller theatre. She did Hallelujah of course and it was sensational, I only like her cover and John Cale's although of course the original is the best. What a fantastic singer KD is, truly gifted.

I saw here in Dublin it must be 4 or 5 years ago now and until Leonard on June 13th it was the best concert I had ever been to, she was amazing, I remember thinking I'd follow her across Europe on tour if I could. She is back here again next Monday and I completely missed that she was coming and it is completely sold out  I think prior to that tour her 'big' song was a cover of 'Crying' by Rob Orbison. She sang that early on in the concert and then totally raised the roof off the building with Hallelujah. Hers became my favourite version until LC on June 13th . She was engaging, funny, so focused, so effortless. Amazing.
