A NewZealander who plays rugby  that's strange... My wee sister has just been there, she loved it.
Any idea what part of Ireland your friend's son lives in ?

We had numbered seats in Dublin so it didn't matter what time we got there, I was lucky I had a great spot...Are there seats in Lisbon ??

No I'm hopeless arent I but his name is (Andrew) Andy? Melville, he's been there a long time, and I guess it does not matter about publishing his name here as Ive read a few glowing reports about his rugby skills in the Irish Press....should I be so cheeky to say the reason why the Irish are such a hard team for us to beat is because you have a few good kiwis over there giving the inside knowledge??   Ha ha thats very inflammatory isnt it.... ;-)
Anyway, no the tickets are not numbered, early on in the thread I asked the silly question about grassy fields and picnic baskets at the venue late afternoon, but methinks from the map its a big concrete lot....Never mind, I will not be wearing my "best frock" if I want to sit down sometime...there are no ticket numbers, Bluebird from Lisbon estimated maybe 5000 tickets? and the capacity is 15000, so I guess it wont be too crowded??...but perhaps we do need to be there by eight to get near the front??...

Found him, Leinster not my end of the country.. Thought this was good. :D

BACK in the dark 1990s, we were in awe of the southern hemisphere -- the acknowledged centre of excellence in world rugby.

The game in Ireland was in the doldrums, while the countries competing in the Tri-Nations were comfortably ahead of their northern hemisphere counterparts.

Thus, if you arrived in Ireland with a Kiwi, Aussie or South African accent you were treated like a shaman, and journeyman players from the southern hemisphere began to exploit our insecurities mercilessly.

With dressed-up CVs duping over-eager suitors, they arrived in their droves using the gullibility of the club blazers to pay for their OE (overseas experience).

Of course, there were gems among them, decent players prepared to invest in their new adventure, men such as the Brents (Pope and Anderson), Dean Oswald, Andy Ward, Jason Holland, Andy Melville, Dave Pomeroy and Phil Werahiko.

And now we are in awe of you... 8) menfolk watching thought you were gonna beat us...I walked away from it all, too much blood being spilled to call it ...a game!?.... ...

Companionship on the "fields of Alges" with the Irish will see me happier than blood spilled on the fields of Eden Park... ;-)

Oh, I see...I take a Sunday off poolside for the first time in ages, and this thread just takes off without me! Harrumph.

Anyway, to review: Portugal has been smoke free since the beginning of this year, although there are some exceptions and flouting of the law (I thought this was hilarious: http://www.spiegel.de/international/zei ... 74,00.html ).

What if Ken & I (and possibly my daughter, if I can wrench her off the beach) got there for 5, and then people can start to trickle in for whenever? That early, I don't think we'll have to book, and anyway we can a hold a few tables until people show up.

Revised list:

NewZealander
Luis (+ 4?)
St. Theresa + Partner
MFLs Three
Vivamus + Partner (+ moping teenager maybe)

Is that a plan? Are we getting closer to a plan?

Ha ha I was just sitting here (back to work again!!) thinking of you Vivamus and how I had spent my working morning and into the afternoon chatting to MFL while you were sleeping....as I knew you would know about the smoke free, so thats good! (by the way did I say that Id thought those pictures of Seville and Lisbon you sent me were lovely...we will have your photography skills on the 19th too I hope)...So ok..I'll put the bike away a bit earlier and get there after 5....(just don't also want to be on my ear by 7,,but thats all about drinking slowly isnt it : 8) 8) 8) ..and the water..)..So It seems to me that this is actually quite early days, still with almost three weeks to go... But Vivamus can you please give them (the pub) a call from your place perhaps this week and tell them what we are planning, 8) that in fact we are now perhaps about a dozen but the number might grow a bit as it gets closer to the time..They can then guide us as to how many they think they can put through in what time, at least let them know we are coming and to stock up the....guiness??.....Me I'll be trying those different varieties of vinho Verdi....to see just which I like the best!!.. ;-) .still not so sure I want to be standing too long on a vacant lot, but I guess we could be moving on down there around 7.30 to 8??...there seems to be some nice spots to sit around the outside of the ground anyway??...ah well..on with this work again for another few hours...You know I think my clients think that I'm running away and never coming back  ...they all want their tax done much earlier than usual... nice to be wanted I suppose :)

I've got 2 spare tickets for the Lisbon concert. I'm still going but 2 friends have dropped out. The tickets are with me in the UK and it probably makes most sense for someone in the UK to buy them, I'm offering them at £60 the pair which is about what I paid including postage. PM me if you're interested.

Hi!

I am Spanish but live near Porto. I will be going to the concert too. I don't know who I will go with yet. I have two tickets and hopefully a friend of mine from Ibiza will be able to join me in Lisbon. If he can't... we'll see. My husband might want to come with me, or maybe a friend.

I'll keep on coming here to see if I/we can meet you somewhere before the concert. I don't know where I will be staying yet. And I know that I will travel by train to Porto the day after the concert. I don't really want to drive that much on my own. I've driven to Lisbon before, but I don't like the idea of crossing the city and finding my way on my own. Also, the train ticket is a lot cheaper than the fuel and the highway fare.

I'll come back again. It's been nice to read you!

Hugs.

And welcome Boirini,
You will have read that we are meeting in the Irish pub in Lisbon..(dont ask me where it is!..but there was a map from Vivamus, which I will follow when I get there)...It will be nice to have another along. I also just cleared my emails and saw your private message, I will send you one back in a minute to talk to you about accomodation and my travel plans going North again.
Nice to have you along too. :) 8) 8)

HI again Boirina,
Vivamus posted a link on page 12 of this thread about half way down. I will put it in again and hope I dont make a mistake with a letter its. http://www.hennessys.com.pt
that is the Irish bar that we are all meeting in...5pm..(and onwards ha ha :) )...thats a wee joke about me perhaps turning up when everyone else has left!... 8) 8) 8)
You will also find a map on there of where it is. As I said Im staying out of town at Alges for my stay, so Im coming back in on the train to the pub and going back out with everyone else to the concert.... Im not sure where Vivamus is staying in town, she might talk to you about that herself.?..but we will ensure that you are well cared for and not alone as you wander around Lisbon in the dark. ..There are also some people from Ireland (MFL) who might also talk to you about their accomodation plans. You are right it would be good if you could find somewhere close by some of the others.
Im not sure what has happened to Luis, I hope we have not scared him away with all our (women's)chit chat and an intention to fill up his quiet pub!... ;-)
I hope thats all useful
Bye...
