Montreal Meet-ups

Post by dick »

Haven't seen much discussion on who all will be coming to Montreal but am sure there will be a number of us who are forum friends. I propose that we meet after the concerts Mon, Tues, Wed, and the tribute Thurs, in the bar at our hotel. We'll be at the Holiday Inn Midtown, 420 Sherbrooke W. Many of us used that hotel and bar for the 2000 Montreal Event. I have spoken with the bar and they say they can accomodate 60 comfortably inside, and that they also have added a terrace.

Linda and I will be there, and we may have a special visitor at least one night.

Hope to see many happy fans!

Hi, thanks so much for arranging for this. I'll be at the concert on the 23rd and would love to join you all after the concert. I saw Leonard in Hamilton and enjoyed it so much that I had to see him one more time!

Looking forward to meeting,

Hi Dick and everyone
Your meet-up sounds like a good idea. I would like to add to it. I live in Montreal and have a place on Sherbrooke Street which is on the road of your hotel. prior to the concert I would like to have folks over for a small dinner and drinks around 5:30 pm. A number of very fine people from the forum will be present and since the dinner is very informal I will be able to accommodate as many others who wish to come. Some kind of response will be appreciated so that i know how many pizzas to make, or something else - I am a very good cook.

As for after the show I would like to make another suggestion for the 23rd. The place is the Jello Bar which is in walking distance of both the show and the holiday Inn hotel.
you can see what it looks like at http://www.jellobar.com/
A short walk from the show.

A PM or an email to jlazariuk@gmail.com will get you my address.

At Jack's suggestion, let's change the meetup bar for Monday after the concert to the Jello Bar, at 151 rue Ontario Est.

Hi folks,

Not sure how things will play out while we are in Montreal, as this is something of a romantic getaway for my Lady and I, but, if I can persuade her (I'm the Cohen fan and she is 'indulging' me. My hope is that she will become a convert through this experience, but it is hardly requisite. LOL), I am definitely interested in meeting people.

We are there Monday to Thursday night. Looks like we are staying at the same hotel, Dick, so perhaps we can connect with folks at some point. We are going to the Tuesday night show. On the agenda so far are visits to Archambault Music Store, Henri Henri (time for a new hat!), and the Rue Prince Arthur for lunch or dinner - all worthwhile undertakings (for those unfamiliar with Montreal).

A bien tot.

How can a woman not be a Cohen fan?
Not to worry, after an evening with him she will become a convert... ;-)

BTW DreamWarrior, I finally got tickets for Buffy Sainte-Marie, first row! :D

I hope you all have a very nice dinner, will be thinking about you all lucky people that night, sigh...

Darlng, you are so right about a woman being unable to resist the Master! Tickets to see Buffy! Do envy you those, though we have decided to stay and see the tribute concert Thursday night when she is playing. Where are you seeing Buffy?

No problem. Captions are possible, but they detract from the photos, so here is narrative.

First 9 shots are at the family home on Belmont, including back yard view (where message to father was buried). Christof from French radio has mike in hand, Arnaud, the Swiss jounalist wearing plaid shirt. Eva the pretty one, me with hat.

Next shots are of Shaar Hashomayim, synagaogue with many Cohen family connections. Guide Ari Mordekai even sang for us. Lyon (grandfather) and Lazzurus (great grandfather).

Statue and main building steps at McGill, site of Cohen 2000 Event.

Bagel Etc., where we had our final lunch stop. Cohen items on display.
