The lead track: “Dance Me To The End Of Love”, penned by Leonard Cohen, echoes beneath the opening credits on the show. This version was specially commissioned for Crashburn and features the vocals of Mark Seymour. Co-creator Andrew Knight suggested the song because he felt “it was the right mix of sad and positive. It seemed to sum up the incomprehensibility, the danger and the romance of long term love.” Selling the idea was the easy part. Producer Fiona Eagger had given the lyrics to her husband on their engagement, while Knight’s writing partner Deb Cox, producer Andrea Denholm and the first episode’s director Tony Tilse all loved the song. Having found the song, selecting the voice to deliver it was equally important.
