petition for U.S. dates?
i was going to suggest that all the U.S. fans e-mail leonard cohen's management expressing our interest in a U.S. tour. but then i figured that kind of harassment would be futile. how about we all post a request in this thread, and then send it over?
i'll even print it out and personally hand deliver it myself... I MUST SEE LEONARD.

Re: petition for U.S. dates?
So is it true the the U.S. dates are scrapped or just on hold? If so, that's super crummy.
I was toying with the idea of making a vacation out of seeing him in Bruges, or else meeting up with a friend in Canada somewhere, but realistically knew that I should be saving for grad school and other life priorities.
And there's no indication of playing U.S.?
Consider this petition signed!
Leonard, sing me a song!

I am also feeling anguished that there might not be a US tour, especially out here in California. Can you imagine what it would cost for two to fly to Montreal, hotels, tickets, etc.? Please LC, come to California. Your long time fan (since 1968).

Yes, another sad and worried person in the US. I'm going to have to just keep my fingers crossed and add my plea to this petition.
40 years a Cohen fan....seeing him live would be quite a thrill. I'm happy for all of you who are getting tickets within a reasonable/do-able distance. Congrats

Please come to the Ryman in Nashville. May need more than one date there. It's the perfect place for Leonard, intimate but fairly big. And I need to see you live. I have never had the pleasure yet. Add me to the petition.
Re: petition for U.S. dates?
I am confident that the tour will include the U.S. Just look at all of his other tours since 1980 - they all have. Also, look at the sheer number of cities he is hitting in Canada and Europe. Seems to me like it will be a very extensive and exhausting tour. I just hope that the announcement and early ticket sales don't occur during the one week that I forget to log onto this site. I will actually be in Europe in May, but too bad I'll miss LC by a month or so.
Oh well, a later tour of the US will give me time to save up $ to hopefully see him at more than one show. Although at $250 a ticket that could be a hard sell to my wife.

Re: petition for U.S. dates?
Oh, my goodness! Can this be true? I was counting on a U.S. leg of the tour... I have an accommodation offer in New York, which means I could (just) afford to travel across the globe from Melbourne especially to see Leonard perform. At the moment, flying to AND staying in Europe is quite beyond my humble artist's budget.
Please, Leonard, I'm clawing at your heart, tearing at your sheet saying PLEASE play in the United States. I've wanted to see you since I can remember.

Re: petition for U.S. dates?
Leonard MUST be planning a U.S. leg that fits into the 2009 part of an 08-09 tour. I'm in the UK now but will be returning just before the tour hits over here so i'll miss this leg. PLEASE add another leg in the U.S. It will happen. It MUST!!!
Re: petition for U.S. dates?
Anyone in the Pacific Northwest? I plan on seeing any shows that happen in BC, WA, or OR. Maybe I'll see you there.
Keep your fingers crossed that we get shows at all though!

I think we just need to wait this one out, folks... (I, too, am very sad at the idea of no tour here... in fact, embarrassing as it is to admit, it makes me want to cry every time I log on... and then that makes me feel guilty, etc.
)
I assume we will get some advance notice if the US is to happen...

Consider this my signing the petition, however if you are on the east coast, why not do as I am and get a ticket to the Montreal show and drive down? (anyone interested in carpooling??)

Re: petition for U.S. dates?
East coast folks should definitely go! I happen to be in California, and was just last month laid off from my university teaching job after this semester due to State budget cuts.... sadly, with a chronic illness, my health care costs have to come first, so travel just can't happen ( I have to travel to DC now to see my specialist, and am doing that on credit....sigh!)
I'm still holding out hope, though, and will at least always have the music ("well, never mind, we are ugly but....")
I did get to hear him speak, though, with Philip Glass, and that was amazing -- so I'm trying not to feel sad about all this.

I can't imagine that Leonard wouldn't tour in the U.S. I'm hoping he'll come to Philadelphia.
Re: petition for U.S. dates?
I am in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle, and just bought a ticket for Copenhagen.
Not taking any chances on the US tour, and besides would love to visit Copenhagen.
(Off topic) I also bought tickets to two Neil Young concerts in Germany the week following... Hoping he will reunite Crazy Horse.
