The Coming

Post by George.Wright »

It was 68 and the clown came down the clown came down
and the sepia toned boyish face
stared with a strange smile
and shared it with a haunting song
from a room and the white and black
nancy wore geen stockings and she died in a panic attack
life was for living and that was a fact
queen victoria and the decrabbing of her pack
under the dirty roofs of train stations
this razor's not a razor its a crackerjack
and the rain still falls down on last years man
and Lorca was shot for being the enemy of hate
and the whole twisted head recycled data of the late
pointing and turning the wicked finger of fate
sticking down the soul like a sliver of slate
it's histories like this we like to relate

Hello George. I find that your prose/poems tend to have an unusual effect on me when reading them. Quite often I get strong imagery in my mind's eye. Can I ask if you have done, or are doing any painting? Your words create a splash of colour in my mind and I would not be surprised if you produce stunning abstract pieces. I might be completely wrong, but that is how I feel about your written word.
It is impossible to quickly scan read or ignore the work you give us. Many thanks. Byron 'sends his regards'.

Byron, thanks for your reply. I do digital abstract photos which are rich in colour and imagry.
I see the pictures in my mind's eye and try and write them.
I admit they are haphazzard and disjointed but are strong images, I have a lot to learn in Poetry and i share them with the forum for fun.

Hi George,

What a delightful thing you have done. I have never had a poem "dedicated" to me before. :) And you are an artist too, as well as a writer! I can see now where your inspiration for your poems come from. There is an abstract flow to your words. It is interesting how you combine images of Leonard and his poetry/songs with a "on the edge" perception of reality. "Striking down the soul like a sliver of slate" is particularly evocative. Well done and thank you again.

Georges -

very evocative, very rich and strong in imagery, and slightly salted with just a grain of humour - I'll certainly come back to read it again.

Thanks for sharing "with the forum for fun". It really is "for pleasure"...

Tom, thanks for your very generous reply. I don't write for profit ( i don't think i would make much money!!) but i do enjoy composing poetry for a bit of fun.
This forum suits this purpose and a common regard for LC.
Again, thanks for your reply, and read on.
