helpless out of anger out of helpless

Post by Manna »

.

warning, this is not a good poem.

How do they get ennui
out of mihi
in odio est?

I am not
going to tell you the reason.
He told me before
he even told his family.
Think I'm gonna tell you?
Sorry.
I don't mean fuck off.
I didn't mean it at all.
Just tell me how
to hold a man -
to pull him to my bosom
without forgetting why.
If you can't tell me that, then fuck off.
Sorry.
I know it is better
to have a better approach,
but it's hard to use my brain
when all of its rooms
are rented.

I wonder who broke into your account, Manna.

Or... are you having one of those rare Jack Daniels nights?

Needless to say, this isn't like you.

Except the last three lines, maybe... that have a bit of your usual flair...
but it's hard to use my brain
when all of its rooms
are rented.
But, then, that just returns me to my initial query.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you're doing tomorrow.

Hi Lizzy - That can be part of the fun in writing a poem, the narrator and author may or may not be the same person. It can be a chance to explore.
I wonder if you saw Sean's thread odd to the militant wing that contains several "angry poems"

I like your bite Manna
but I'm pissed at how hard you made me work for the first stanza. joking
Is it a list poem?

This may or may not be like you, but these parts are like me.
Sorry.
I don't mean fuck off.
I didn't mean it at all.

I never know what to do with anger. When it spills out I'm always saying, sorry sorry - I didn't mean it...
If you can't tell me that, then fuck off.
I wonder if this line would work better broken
If you can't tell me that, then
fuck off.

yep, sort of. Bourbon.

Cate,
I looked up the word ennui because I wasn't sure if it meant what I thought it meant. It included an angle I wasn't sure about, but decided it fit with how I felt. Then I saw that it said "French, from Latin, mihi in odio est - it is hateful to me. Compare with annoy." (I don't know Latin at all, but it just so happened that I had mentioned it recently with some stuff connected to what this poem is about, which made it even more fitting to me for this lousy poemlette.)
I wonder if you saw Sean's thread odd to the militant wing that contains several "angry poems"
yep.

No, this isn't a list poem. I haven't been brave enough to try one of those yet, or maybe just haven't found a reason.

Hi Cate ~

Yeah, I know what you're saying and I'm not saying this isn't perfectly acceptable or ought not be experimented with. Reminds me of a book I've heard about, but haven't read yet, titled "Writing Down The Bones." It's also helpful just to process in this way.

Still, for me... it compelled me to comment as I did  .

I haven't had a chance to read even the first posting in the "Ode... Militant Wing" thread.

Haha... Manna's back from the other side of Manna ;-) .

Hello Manna

I liked your poem.
It reminded me
of those odd days
when I get a bit like the sky
just before a release
of thunder and rain
when I get to
growling, grumbling, rumbling
but fortunately it passes
fairly soon.
these days

I think French Bourbon might explain it.

Sean

PS that's you, Jack and me (in the old days)... bourbon drinkers

About one minute after I posted this little 'List Poem' I received the following email from my daughter, Lisa:

Thanks for saying so, Lizzy. yes she is beautiful inside and outside, but that beauty is hidden to her. I was only a major part of her life for the first three years, then a wicked stepfather stepped in. He was a victim, himself, of the poisonous pedagogy that I am on about in that other thread. He passed the lineage on to her BIG time. This fuels her addiction problems and makes recovery extremely difficult. She needs not only treatment but a major catharsis to go with it!

So I wear a lot of hats with Lisa. I used to be an addiction counselor and a psychotherapist and now I am a monk and of course, I am her dad.

I spent ten days with her on her mountain in BC Canada just over a year ago. We have, surprisingly, a wonderful relationship. She is a HUGE Leonard Cohen fan independent of any of my influence! Also, importantly, she responds to and appreciates my rather twisted sense of humor.

Hi Sean ~

Wasn't Lisa supposed to come visit you on your mountain in Spain? I haven't caught up with the threads here to know the issue that you're speaking of and that's plaguing her. I'm glad she has you with your level of understanding in her life. As you know, it's such a tough road coming back from addiction. I haven't been addicted, but have dealt with many addicts.
