Next thing Damellon will be English!!!!!!!!
He is CANADIAN. Was born in Westmount, which is a suburb of Montreal. The Susan from the song is a Montreal girl
and the river Leonard talks about is the St Lawrence river near old Montreal.

Well, one of his home's is in LA,so he's part-time American. You're right, his citizenship is probably Canadian. Some people have dual citizenship I think.

Exciting news for those who got their tickets.

I wonder if they'd be able to announce what cities he's going to be in when he tours the US without mentioning dates and specific venues. Nokia is just the right size... slightly larger than a theater, smaller than an arena, everyone gets a good view and the sound quality is great. Saw Neil Young at the one in LA last year. California in itself could be a month.

Hello mr Jarkko,
is there any information on the venue in Helsingborg, Sweden?
Tour schedule only says "Open air", a bit more details would help us looking for tickets... ;-)

best regards

The other one is in Montreal, more precisely on St Dominique street. There was a recent newspaper article picturing him in front of his home.

But basically L.C. refers more to humanity than citizenship.

I thought there was humanity in America. I'm American and so are my friends. So is Lizzytysh, Dick & LInda Straub, Joe Way and other American humans who contribute here.

But I basically agree with that;I just think of Dylan or Pete Seeger in music among many others ( and only in the musical field). You misunderstood my thoughts.I just think that beyond being "american" or "canadian".L.C is mostly "human" in its most planetary sense.

And Vermont is one of your most beautiful state ( for the cycling enthousiast I am).

My fellow Americans, (as George Bush would say) and girl Americans as well, the American tour dates have been posted. There are none. In 1993, it took a night of intense radio promotion by DJ Vin Scelsa to get New York people to the Paramount . Before that, not many tickets were sold. The response to Dear Heather was weak. When the Leonard Cohen Event happened in New York City, the press did not even take note of it. A prophet of the heart is without honor in his own country, although he attained the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without ever having rocked or rolled. Perhaps that is the trouble. If you hear of any American tour dates, let us know. I have been to quite a few since 1968.
I don't get this bitterness. Leonard is touring. Rejoice.
First there is a olde timer vs. new members spat.
Now someone trying to start a 'citizenship' conflict.
So what if the u.s. is not sophisticated enough to have embraced Leonard like the rest of the world has (for decades). It's not a reflection on him.
If he is left of the mainstream that sounds like a good thing to me considering some of the crap that get all the attention.

Laurie

I don't see any conflict or bitterness or lack of sophistication in our major cities. I was saying, America is Rock 'n Roll, (hip hop now) coming from Blues, Country, and African influenced musical forms, whereas Leonard is coming from European waltzes and classical music. Two trains running. Maybe he will come to our cities if he has any steam left or financial need after the other tour. In the '80s he had an audience over here.

When you complained about NYC and the lack of any u.s. events, I would argue that it was easy to mis-read what you said (if I did).

cheers,
Laurie

ayyyye ayye.
I hope there is some truth to the Maritime/Atlantic Canadian rumor.

I missed out on the pre-tickets for the 23rd in Montreal..Holding out in case he comes closer, and if not, I'll have to rush through the general public when tickets go on sale.

oh what a tangle!

It would be a dream if the other Canadian dates are announced before the pre-sale is over.

Great work on Jarkko's part!
and congrats to all of you with tickets in hand!
