Forever Green

Post by funkymonkey »

From my own past
the judges passed
the guilt, spilt milk
and shame.

In my head
they made a bed.
A quilted web like
spiders spread through
my mind's eye.

And on this screen
they splashed a scene.
A nightmare dream that
at the seam began
to split.

As I unravel,
my judge's gavel
lays a law just
to offend.

And from the bench
condems the wench,
the witch, whichever
name.

So sentenced in Forever Green.
Improsined by this jealousy.
The pointed finger rises above.
To a place far below true love.

Hi funkymonkey ~

Now, that's not jabberwocky, but a visually graphic way of depicting the lifelong, kangaroo court that occurs in many of our heads; the result of the guilt and blame superimposed on us in our childhood, and how it can impact us lifelong. That judge needs to be removed from the bench for his own contempt "from [the] court"!

Your last two lines are also particularly effective, funkymonkey.

Hello funkymonkey and may I say I am pleased to see a new contributor to this board.
I have to ask, after reading Elizabeth's response to this vitally alive piece, if you have read 'Ulysses' ? The James Joyce work, not the Tennyson. Your words flood out of the screen as if you're pouring them from your ink well. I enjoyed this piece. Thank you.

Byron,
Thankyou, and no, I've never read Ulysses. I'm glad to be a part of this forum. Thank you for having me.

Lizzy,
I think this came from realizing that everyone is equally
guilty and not-guilty. In the end, we have to actually support
the ones we say we care about, and not just pretend.

Your insight is valuable and appreciated, both of you.
Thank you.
