Leonard Cohen: TOUR 2008

I promised a couple of our Oirsh forum members that I would pass on any info I heard from Bob Dylan's promoter concerning concerts in the land of scholars.

Lenny and Bobby just may bump into each other after all.

I’ve been informed by Bob Dylan’s regular Irish promoter, Aiken that there may be a Bob Dylan concert in Galway this summer. This may be a series of concerts, possibly to include Eric Clapton. Nothing yet confirmed.

The Dublin series of concerts for which Bob is also rumoured (in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham) and is by a different promoter and is likely to also include Leonard Cohen (who he?) and Iggy Pop. Both these sets of concerts are in June up to about the 15th.

Hi Ken,

No mention of Leonard at http://www.aikenpromotions.ie/ though Clapton is playing Malahide Castle and Live at the Marquee, Cork. According to Jim Carroll in The Ticket http://www.ireland.com/blogs/ontherecor ... n-in-june/ , POD is bringing in Leonard Cohen to play Kilmainham Hospital some time between 13-20 June. Dunno what night the gig is on and/or when the tickets go on sale… Iggy Pop is playing Kilmainham on 16th June - http://www.pod.ie/ I wouldn't be at all surprised if Cohen did Malahide Castle and / or Live at the Marquee, Corkas the timing seems to fit his touring schedule...

I am in the seventh heaven of ecstacy..my two favourite artists in the world may be touring at the same time - tickets will be gold dust - I realize this does not mean they will do a double bill, but what a thought...

I don't know what part of the world you are from but if it's Bob you would like to see then Spain is going to be the place to be this summer.
I'm involved with a fan allocation ticket scheme here in the UK for Bob's UK concerts, so we are kept up to date thru Bob's UK promoters of Bob's touring plans.
Here is what they have emailed us this morning

Bob will be in Europe in June/July but it looks as if most (maybe all)
shows will be in Spain. There might be the odd few shows elsewhere but
it does not look as if he will be coming to the UK - there are
currently absolutely no plans for him to do so. The only rumours for
additional shows in the Summer are for Portugal, Italy, Slovenia and
Croatia.

Lucky for Tom Sakic and the rest of Croatia but bad news for us in the UK.
As usual with Bob he starts a tour, which he did a few days ago, with only the first few weeks of dates confirmed and then the rest of the tour is organised on the fly, so things could change.
Of course if you happen to be in Mexico next month Bob is giving a free concert on the 25th. in Zacatecas.

Thanks a lot for this info. Bit naughty to be discussing Bob on Leonard's site maybe, but just a short discourse.. Well, if I have to travel to Spain (I live in London) to catch the elusive Mr Dylan, then I will. Can't quite believe he would skip the UK altogether tho - PLEASE keep me informed if you are willing to on any further info on his tour of Spain/Portugal, wherever, or preferably the UK!!

I'm willing to travel to Ireland for LC - or Spain or anywhere in Europe if that's all there is. Like loadsaothers on this site. Just hope there does not a situation doesn't evolve when Bob's in Spain and Leonard is in Ireland at the same time - aargh, paranoid split or what?

It would be a 'no contest', surely. Leonard in Ireland of course. Dylan will tour til he drops so you'll have other opportunities to see him.

You are right, yeah. Guess I'm greedy though, just hope I don't have to miss Dylan in Europe for the first time in years - I never miss a Bobby tour - but Leonard does win in such an awful contest.

For my Swedish friends. Leonard sent me a message today, saying he probably will do outdoors shows in summer. Says he regrets that, but must for other reasons. Anyway, he will be back in winter for concerts indoors. Anyway, that´s whar he told me.

If anybody has heard any rumors regarding the dates for Ontario, Canada shows, please post them.
I have to make some travel arrangements for early May and cannot wait until the announcement of tour dates on March 11!
I assume it would follow the Maritimes, and thus should be 'early May', but I need to know a bit more accurately...
