But this IS possibly my only chance to see Leonard Cohen live, whereas I can always have more children.

haha Rabitt, that just killed me

but i'm with you on it being the possibly only chance to see him live (for me after calling him ' the master' since i was 15) - and i probably won't really believe it until it happens and i am actually there

(i had a dream a couple of weeks ago that someone told me he had died - i was quite flustered when i woke up, as you can imagine.
i did not want to mention it on here ( not that i thought it was anything to worry about )
until i figured out it that a comment made by someone on here that found its way into my dream that night - phew that felt a lot better then !)

essentially, i think i will go whereever to see him, and if in London, i am hoping the Albert Hall rather then the 02 Arena (not i don't think he can fill it, i just really do not like arenas, too vast, inhuman, you might as well watch the video). under normal circumstances, someone playing an arena will mean i would not go. only exception i would make is for leonard.

Jarkko, you have just solved a mystery for me!

During my time at Queen's University I was told by a friend about a ticket stub that was on display in one of the buildings on campus. When I went to check it out, it was gone. I have searched for it for quite some time, but nobody could tell me where it ended up. Now I know... ebay... (sigh)

Anyhow, I then went and searched the University archives and managed to dig out newspapers articles about the show, as well as an advertisement and a picture from the 1971 yearbook (the show took place in October, and thus the photo did not make the 1970 yearbook deadline).

For those interested, I have (temporarily) put up scans of the above items. (Warning: large pdf files! 0.5 - 1 MB)
Queen's Journal (2 Oct 1970): Concert Ad
Queen's Journal (20 Oct 1970): Concert Reviews
Queen's Tricolour Yearbook (1971): Photo

sorry about the poor quality - I could only get a hold of the microfiche. Also one of the articles is cut off, again, blame the microfiche!

cheers.

To 27 Angels,

A question – not about the tour, but about the 27 angels – do you know the significance of 27 angels from the G.B.? Not 10 or 20 but 27? I don't usually get hung up on these things, but this one keeps nagging at me... can you shed any light ? 8)

Everybody can send attachment! When writing your reply, find the "Upload attachment" heading, click on it,
enter the file name in the box in question; finally hit "Add the file" button and then "Submit" after
having written what you want to say.

I tried to send the attachments, but got an error saying that .pdf files are not allowed.
Can this option be changed in the forum settings?

While waiting for this year's tour info, here is a ticket to one of the gigs in Leonard's first tour in 1970
(Andy Jones took it from eBay)

Jarkko,

I wish I had saved my ticket from Queens, NY tennis stadium from July 1970. As I asked on another thread, does anyone else remember if that concert was on my birthday July 24 (in my memory) or July 25, as listed in the Leonard Cohen files?

Also, I'm sure others have noticed that the announcement on March 11 will follow his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame the previous night. I hope there aren't too many rumors spread that night.

Anyone care to speculate on what he'll sing that night? I'm guessing Hallelujah, since that's the song most people watching that show would be most familiar with.

Just a note of sanity here..I know all of us are desperate and would do anything to see Leonard...but the general public worldwide are not really THAT into him...so if he palys enough venues..hopefully we will all get to see him...don't you think...maybe..hopefully....

I bet when we are on this site a year from now..most of us will have managed to get tickets :D

I shall be on holiday when tickets go on sale now  ..so hoping a friend will try and get me one....

Most concerts in the summer leg of the concert tour will be open air concerts at big festivals etc. This means that there will be a lot of tickets going on sale in several European countries. However, we have to remember that many other artists are performing at the same festivals, and their fans are also eager to get their tickets. It will be a good idea to push ahead immediatelly when ticket sales starts. Every venue is selling tickets through their own channels, and they decide independently when they start.

The tour schedule will be made public on March 11 as announced here, the day after the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, and we will in good time let you know the exact time when the schedule will be available on this Forum and at the Leonard Cohen Files. Until that day all announcements by the festival organizers must be classified as rumors. I have been asked also to let you know that the news about the Kilmainham and London 02 gigs are not true, and there is no confirmation for the Spanish Rock Festival in Benacassim. Looks like the only true location that has leaked is Glastonbury.

Leonard is just going to give what he can, to as many as he can, under the best circumstances that he can.

He will do his bit
And we will have to do our bit
And make the best of it

There is a 'crack' in his tour
because it is a 'thing'
but there will be light
even if there is horrid weather
and a host of other inclemencies.

I guess Cohens price will be slightly more than 12.50 to see him at the Royal Albert Hall now :D
